Cybill Shepherd reveals intimate details of her love affair with Elvis Presley

Cybill Shepherd recently described a romance she had with Elvis Presley in the 1970s, saying he seemed almost otherworldly – like he was ‘a little bit too close to God.’ She shared this during a public event over the weekend.

Cybill Shepherd, 75, shared the news on Friday night at a special event—An Evening with Cybill Shepherd—held at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles. The event featured music, conversation, and stories from the actress.

The singer, originally from Memphis, Tennessee, was preparing to perform her song “Graceland (Revisited)” when she shared the story behind it. She spoke about Elvis Presley, who passed away in August 1977 at the age of 42, according to People magazine.

Ellen Shepherd, known for her roles in films like The Last Picture Show and Taxi Driver, playfully imitated Elvis Presley, describing him as a ‘great guy’.

Shepherd explained that Elvis Presley was the inspiration behind the song she was about to perform. She wrote it with her previous musical director, Tom Adams.

Shepherd said at the end of her performance, ‘Elvis was really cool though.’

People in the audience also heard stories about other relationships the performer had in Hollywood throughout the two-hour show.

Katey Sagal revealed she had a brief romance with Don Johnson, now 75, while filming the 1985 movie, ‘The Long Hot Summer’.

According to Shepherd, she and Don Johnson had a brief romantic relationship when he was most famous for Miami Vice, even though they didn’t share any screen time together in a movie.

‘Don Johnson and I did not do scenes together, but we did have a lot of fun,’ Shepherd said.

She explained that they didn’t film any romantic scenes together on camera, but they did have fun and joke around while the camera wasn’t rolling.

In the 1985 television remake of the classic 1958 film *The Long Hot Summer*—which originally starred Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward—the actress portrayed the character Eula Varner.

You know, I was chatting with a performer recently, and she shared a funny story. She originally went for a completely different part in the show, but believe it or not, she was turned down because of something really unexpected! It just goes to show, sometimes things don’t work out as planned, and it’s often for a reason you’d never see coming.

According to Shepherd, she wasn’t considered for the role of Joanne Woodward in the remake of ‘The Long, Hot Summer’ because they thought she was too attractive.

Shepherd added, ‘I didn’t hit that part, but I got another part.’

Most recently, Shepherd played Nancy Crampton-Brophy in the 2023 TV movie *How to Murder Your Husband*, which was written and directed by Stephen Tolkin.

Her costars in the production included Steve Guttenberg, Sandy Minh Abley and Primo Allon.

Cybill Shepherd became famous for her role on the ABC show *Moonlighting*, which aired from 1985 to 1989. She starred alongside Bruce Willis, and together they played the characters Maddie Hayes and David Addison in the show’s blend of drama and comedy.

Bruce Willis has been in the news for the last three and a half years while privately dealing with frontotemporal dementia. In March 2022, his family publicly announced his retirement from acting due to his health.
