The first Counter-Strike 2 Major tournament of 2027 promises to be a big event. It will be the first time Valve has sponsored a CS2 Major in Argentina, and only the second time in all of South America. The tournament is being organized by FiReLEAGUE, a company based in the region.
The excitement around CS2 esports brings fans together globally, and now a Major tournament is heading to a new location: Buenos Aires, Argentina. This promises to be a world-class competition.

The first-ever Counter-Strike Major in Argentina
The most exciting part of this news is that Argentina will be hosting a Major CS2 tournament. After holding many events globally, the focus now turns to Argentina.
Argentina, a country famous for its love of football and legendary players like Messi and Maradona, is equally enthusiastic about Counter-Strike. We’re committed to making this Major tournament an incredible event.

While Argentinian esports teams aren’t yet major international contenders, they show a lot of promise. Two notable teams are 9z Team and BESTIA, and they’re currently competing in the qualifiers for IEM Rio 2026 in the Americas.
Before now, South America had hosted only one Counter-Strike 2 Major championship: the Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major in 2022.
FiReLEAGUE CS2: A Major hosted by a smaller brand
In 2026, most of the Counter-Strike 2 esports events will be hosted by the big names like ESL, BLAST, and PGL. It’s interesting and unexpected to see a tournament organizer from Argentina also hosting a Major championship.
FiReLEAGUE has been running Counter-Strike tournaments for up-and-coming teams since 2020. In 2024, they held FiReLEAGUE Buenos Aires 2025, which featured a $100,000 prize and four teams competing in the playoffs. Brazil’s Imperial Esports took the win, defeating 9z Team in the final match.
Traditional format at CS2 FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027
The FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027, like other Counter-Strike 2 events run by Valve, will have a long and involved competition, creating plenty of chances for fans to bet on esports.
- 32 teams.
- Three Swiss-system stages. Teams with higher VRS join closer to the Playoffs.
- The final single-elimination brackets happen in front of a live audience. The best eight teams battle for the Major trophy.
The next Counter-Strike 2 Major tournament will be held in Buenos Aires from May 31st to June 20th, 2027. Plans are also underway for a second Major in Shanghai later that year.
