Summary
- Crunchyroll announces Sekiro: No Defeat, the anime adaptation Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
- Produced by Kadokawa, Qzil.la, and ARCH, the series will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2026
At the 2025 Gamescom Opening Night Live event, it was revealed that “Sekiro: No Defeat” is being developed as an animated adaptation in the style of traditional Japanese art, based on the critically acclaimed game, “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,” by FromSoftware Inc.
Adhering closely to the game’s primary motifs, “Sekiro: No Defeat” re-creates the Sengoku era in a cinematic style. Each scene is carefully designed to mirror the original’s intensity, making its story of loyalty, revenge, and supernatural mystery more engaging as an immersive visual storyline.
Kenichi Kutsuna, known for his vital animation work on Naruto: Shippuden, Bleach, and Satoshi Kon’s Paranoia Agent, is overseeing the direction. He will be working with screenwriter Takuya Satou (Fate/stay night) and character designer Takahiro Kishida (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind). This talented duo will be joined by a crew of seasoned professionals for the project.
The series, manufactured by Kadokawa, Qzil.la, and ARCH, is scheduled to debut on Crunchyroll in 2026. It will be streamable worldwide, excluding Japan, China, South Korea, Russia, and Belarus, who hold exclusive rights.
