Initially planned, this week marked the culmination of Dota 2’s inaugural major content update, Crownfall. However, with players in a frenzy trying to gather the final tokens and candy rerolls, Valve has decided to prolong the event for an additional three weeks.

The deadline for Crownfall has been set for February 6th, leaving Dota 2 gamers with three more weeks to collect rewards and finish their Crownfall Act missions. But here’s the big question: What new content is coming next?

Dota fans pleased (and frustrated) at Crownfall extension

Valve’s January 15 blog post, entitled “Crownfall’s Farewell,” reveals that the end date for Crownfall has been delayed by almost a month due to requests from some players who wished for more time to finish all the game content.

As a passionate gamer, I once resorted to using my scruffy cat as a persuasive tool, hoping it would sway the game developers to delay the release date. Incredibly, it worked! Here’s what Valve had to say in their announcement: “If the whispers from friends, family, dedicated fans, coworkers, bus drivers, security guards, and even some online cats are true, it seems that many of us could truly benefit from a little more time to wrap up everything.

Valve emphasized that the definitive, unquestionable, and conclusive final release date for Crownfall has been confirmed, which is a change from previous extensions over the past year. Therefore, if you’re yet to complete the last Act or need additional items for the Candyworks Caravan, don’t miss out on any more opportunities!

It appears not everyone was overly content with today’s extension. Many players had hurried through the last few days, hoping to complete all their missions and quests beforehand. One player commented, “I used up all my candy and rerolls, thinking they would disappear instead of waiting for new recipes,” a sentiment echoed by many others who found themselves in similar circumstances.

Essentially, having extra time to gather lots of rewards and complete every Act within Crownfall is beneficial, particularly for those who weren’t able to play during the holidays.

On February 6th, the game Crownfall concludes. Regarding future plans, Valve has chosen to remain silent on the subject. We anticipate that they may introduce something akin to Crownfall as they transition from their previous Battle Pass system towards a more balanced ecosystem and frequent, substantial updates for Dota 2.

The specific shape of what comes next remains unclear, but Crownfall has been a significant hit ever since it debuted in March. From in-game mini-games to an abundance of cosmetic prizes, Dota 2 players might not complain if Valve decides to continue in this direction and introduce something comparable in the future.
