Critics Choice Awards 2025 postponed AGAIN amid devastating LA fire
I’m sharing an update as a devoted follower of award shows: Regrettably, the Critics Choice Awards 2025 have been delayed again due to the persistent wildfires still burning in Southern California.
Originally planned for Sunday, January 12 at Barker Hangar with an impressive lineup of celebrities, the show was subsequently rescheduled to take place on Sunday, January 26 instead.
As a diehard fan, I can’t help but feel the anticipation building up, knowing that the much-awaited event was supposed to take place this month. But alas, due to the unfortunate proximity of the venue to the devastating wildfires in Pacific Palisades, the organizers have wisely decided to postpone the show until February. I can’t wait to see the magic unfold then!
There’s some uncertainty about whether the Critics Choice Awards will take place at the famous hangar, but Variety has confirmed they will announce a new date for the show soon. The event is expected to happen in Santa Monica, California.
For the third year running, Chelsea Handler serves as the host of this year’s awards ceremony. Among the nominees, Wicked, Conclave, and Shogun have secured the most recognitions.
As reported by CalFire on Tuesday evening, the Palisades Fire is currently being contained to 17%, while the Eaton Fire situated in Altadena and Pasadena stands at 35% containment.
All the upcoming Los Angeles premieres for “The Wolf Man”, “Unstoppable”, “Better Man”, “The Pitt”, “On Call”, and “The Last Showgirl” were called off in the final week before the Critics Choice Awards.
The annual BAFTA Tea Party in Beverly Hills was canceled, and the AFI Awards postponed.
On Tuesday, the 7th of January, the Palisades Fire ignited under powerful winds, occurring in an area that hadn’t received substantial rain for over half a year.
At the Palisades’ Sunset Boulevard, there were numerous high-end automobiles left behind as residents hurriedly abandoned their vehicles and fled on foot upon hearing the first reports of a fire.
Expensive residential areas saw their buildings crumble to ruins, with the fires spreading rapidly, approximately nine football fields’ worth of destruction occurring every sixty seconds.
A stretch of homes on the beach along Pacific Coast Highway have been burned to the ground.
The flames advanced towards the Getty Villa, however, representatives from the museum reassured the public that all the artwork and relics remained unscathed.
The Eaton Fire also caused the evacuation of a senior center.

Over 100,000 people living in the City of Angels were compelled to evacuate their homes, while officials have verified 24 fatalities, with random fires persistently igniting across Southern California.
Several well-known individuals, along with many others, suffered losses due to the fires, but it’s important to note that the majority of those affected are not celebrities or affluent.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel the heartache as I watch the devastating inferno consume the homes of my beloved celebrities like Paris Hilton, Anthony Hopkins, John Goodman, Miles Teller, Billy Crystal, Mandy Moore, and Jen Atkin. My thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
Numerous well-known individuals are sharing on their social media platforms links to free resources intended for those affected or displaced by the raging wildfires, providing them with assistance.
