Criterion to Work on Battlefield, but Need for Speed Isn’t Finished

As of currently, the Development Team is concentrating on Battlefield, however, the Need for Speed is by no means extinct, as stated by Vince Zampella.

During a conversation with Eurogamer, the current leader of the Battlefield franchise at Electronic Arts, named Zampella, discussed the current circumstances.

According to Zampella, the members of the “Need for Speed” team at Criterion are now collaborating with their Battlefield colleagues. The company felt it was crucial to spend last year listening to feedback from the “Need for Speed” community, which they used to develop content for “Unbound”. With a greater awareness of what players desire in a “Need for Speed” experience, the goal is to revitalize the franchise with innovative and exciting approaches.

Currently, Criterion operates under the “Battlefield Studios” umbrella, indicating that it’s one of many studios working on the Battlefield series, which unfortunately hasn’t been doing too well lately and could definitely benefit from a revitalization.

In the latest installment of the series, titled Battlefield 2042, Dan expressed his viewpoint as follows: “In my opinion, Battlefield 2042 is DICE’s average offering in the Battlefield franchise. Although it offers two new modes, Hazard Zone and Battlefield Portal, it appears to have overlooked the essence of the gameplay experience.
