As a die-hard fan of quality TV shows, I must say that this news about the reboot of Friday Night Lights has left me absolutely thrilled! The original series was a masterpiece, and it’s fantastic to see it returning with Universal Television at the helm, along with the talented Peter Berg.

Actor Zach Gilford from the show Criminal Minds shared a surprising health update with his followers by posting a sequence of images on Instagram Stories on Tuesday, which showed him with a significantly swollen face.

The 42-year-old actor, famously recognized from Friday Night Lights, didn’t disclose the reason behind an apparent health response, but hinted that there is still some distance to cover in his recovery process.

Initially, the star from the Midnight Mass production posted a selfie where only half his face was visible due to severe swelling on the left side, making his left eye completely shut.

At the bottom of the image, Gilford casually messaged his audience, “Yesterday was quite enjoyable.

Afterward, Zach added another selfie to provide a peek at his face, which appeared to become increasingly puffy as he put on a blue facemask.

He wrote in the caption at the bottom, ‘Good thing we wrapped @criminalminds last week.’

Lastly, Gilford shared a third selfie with his face less swollen and eyes not as puffy.

The actor expressed appreciation towards the doctors who helped with his recovery and wrote, “I’m thankful to every nurse, doctor, and team member at @huntingtonhospital for helping me regain a natural appearance.

To be frank, I’m still not quite myself yet, Zach cautioned; there seems to be a bit of a journey ahead before I can fully return to my usual self.

The star recently concluded filming the third season of Criminal Minds: Evolution, where he portrays a prolific serial killer named Elias Voit.

previously, he had a role in both the debut and subsequent season; however, his initial plan was limited to appearing solely in the first season.

Back in August of this year, Gilford shared with Us Weekly that he had only agreed to a one-year contract. Halfway through the first season, showrunner Erica Messer informed him, “I’m not sure about the future.

Although we’re still unsure about how the season will conclude, we’ve chosen not to harm you. Instead, we want to maintain your presence with us. Consequently, I returned feeling extremely joyful to continue our interaction.

In the comeback of Criminal Minds, which started in 2022, Zach not only resumed his character Voit but also seized an opportunity to take on the director’s role as well.

I proudly took my place behind the director’s chair for the recent episode, North Star. This captivating installment was unveiled earlier in the year.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last July, Gilford shared details about the origins of the opportunity.

During the discussions about my contract, I inquired if I could direct an episode. Eventually, that request was granted, which was something I had long aspired to achieve.

He went on to say, ‘I’ve been an assistant or observer on almost every project I’ve been involved in, and securing a spot like that is challenging, particularly for a series with just ten episodes.’

However, the cast received a great deal of backing in their directorial roles. In fact, more than half of the episodes during this season were helmed by the cast members themselves, making it an incredibly enjoyable experience.

In that very same month, Zach moved over to his primary Instagram account to post pictures capturing him directing during filming for Criminal Minds.

As I delve into my creative director’s hat for the day, I share with you all a glimpse of our latest Criminal Minds adventure! #BehindTheScenes

Gilford collaborated with his spouse, Kiele Sanchez, on the show, portraying a married duo in their performances.

For Zach, filming tense scenes alongside others proved to be a difficult task.)

‘It’s actually harder. It’s harder because I don’t want to hold a gun to my wife’s head… It just happened to be that the nature of these scenes were pretty gross.’

He added, ‘Honestly, all those scenes are so f***ed up. I’ll only speak for myself. Kiele can obviously speak for herself, but it felt gross [bringing those darker moments to life together].’

Afterwards, Gilford clarified that the suggestion for Kiele to join Criminal Minds didn’t originate from him or herself.

On the commute to work, I bid farewell to Kiele, and as I did, she glanced at her phone and remarked, “That’s peculiar. I’ve been offered a role in Criminal Minds as your on-screen wife.

Later on, showrunner Erica Messer explained to me, “We aimed to avoid placing undue pressure on you and Kiele. Instead, our goal was to maintain a highly professional atmosphere.” This is how I remember the conversation.

Besides his role in “L.A.’s Finest”, Zach has made appearances on various TV series, like “Midnight Mass” from 2021 and “Fall Of The House Of Usher” set to premiere in 2023.

In Friday Night Lights, an American television series that ran from 2006 to 2011, Zach Gilford played the role of Matt Saracen.

Based on reports from Deadline this month, it has been announced that the cherished series will air on Peacock after a fierce competition between various streaming platforms.

The television show, initially featuring Gilford, Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Tyler Kitsch, Jesse Plemons, Aimee Teegarden, Gaius Charles, and Minka Kelly, will be produced by Universal Television for its upcoming season.

Peter Berg, known for directing the original series when it first premiered, will likewise contribute to the upcoming remake.

The storyline of the upcoming series unfolds following a destructive hurricane, where a motley crew of high school football players, along with their temporary coach, embark on an unexpected journey towards winning the Texas High School State Championship. In doing so, they emerge as a symbol of hope for their community.

Cast details have yet to be revealed, but the project is currently in its development stages.
