Creep 3 Director Reveals if Horror Movie Sequel Is Canceled

Patrick Brice, who directed the Creep movies, recently talked about the highly anticipated third film, Creep 3, at Fantastic Fest 2025. He discussed what’s next for the series, explained why there was a break after Creep 2, and assured fans that they are still working on a final movie to complete the trilogy.

Creep 3 is still in development and not canceled

As a huge fan of the Creep franchise, I was thrilled to hear that Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass have confirmed they’re still working on a third film! They were at Fantastic Fest 2025, and Brice told The Direct that they will definitely make Creep 3. But it’s not just about making another movie; they want it to be a real conclusion. He said they envision it as something that “closes things up,” like finishing a sentence. Duplass also confirmed that, despite the long wait since Creep 2 back in 2017, they’re still aiming for a trilogy closer.

The Creep series started roughly ten years ago with the first film, and continued with Creep 2 in 2017. Both movies were directed by Brice and starred Duplass as the serial killer, Peachfuzz. The story grew beyond the films with The Creep Tapes, a TV show on Shudder that began in November 2024, focusing on new people terrorized by Peachfuzz. The second season of the series will debut on Shudder and AMC+ on November 14, 2025. This expansion allows for a deeper dive into the Creep universe.

Duplass shared that the strong reception to Creep 2 made them cautious about continuing the series. He stated, “Patrick and I felt stuck after making Creep 2 when thinking about Creep 3. Both films did so well-and by ‘successful,’ I mean the dedicated fans really loved them. We didn’t want to create another installment unless we believed it could be as good, or even better.” He also mentioned that The Creep Tapes allowed for more creative exploration. “Making The Creep Tapes gave us the freedom to think, ‘We’re not going to do a full album. Let’s create a series of unusual EPs,’ and we found that really enjoyable,” Mark Duplass explained.

Duplass explained that the TV show format allowed for “more chaos” compared to their films. He said, “Because each episode is around 30 minutes long, it gives you the freedom to experiment more, and you can tell a wider variety of stories successfully in that shorter format.”

Interestingly, Brice and Duplass are the minds behind The Creep Tapes, where Brice took on the role of director and Duplass reprised his character as Peachfuzz. Notably, this demonstrates their continued creative collaboration.
