Creature Commandos Season 2 has received an unexpected update from James Gunn.
The first official venture under Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU is titled Creature Commandos, a show that made its debut on Max in December 2024. Written by Gunn himself, the series boasts a voice cast consisting of Indira Varma as The Bride, Sean Gunn as G.I. Robot, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, Zoë Cato as Nina Mazursky, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.
What is the Creature Commandos Season 2 update?
I was absolutely thrilled when Creature Commandos got picked up for another season right after its debut! However, it seems like things have gone quiet on the project front ever since.
Initially, it was believed that Gunn would pen Creature Commandos 2 by himself. However, he’s recently shared on Threads that this won’t be the case. Instead, a team of writers will collaborate on the scripts, a setup known as a “writers’ room.” Although some fans may be disheartened by this change, the shift to a multi-person writing team might expedite the release timeline, since the project won’t have to rely solely on Gunn’s availability.
At the moment, there’s no confirmed premiere date for Creature Commandos Season 2 on HBO Max.
In a statement following the announcement of Creature Commandos Season 2, Gunn and Safran expressed their excitement about collaborating with Max once more for another dose of Creature Commandos chaos. They praised Max for exceeding industry standards in their successful first season of Peacemaker, the remarkable run of The Penguin, and the unprecedented debut of Creature Commandos.
