Crazy Town singer Shifty Shellshock's cause of death revealed 3 months after passing aged 49

As a lifestyle expert who has witnessed the rollercoaster ride of fame and its consequences, I find it deeply saddening to write about the tragic demise of Shifty Shellshock, real name Seth Brooks Binzer. His life was a testament to the highs and lows that come with stardom, and his battles with substance abuse were well-documented.

The reason behind the demise of the lead vocalist from the band Crazy Town, Shifty Shellshock, has come to light – approximately three months since his untimely passing at the age of 49.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, it was a combination of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine that led to the unfortunate demise of the star, whose real name is Seth Brooks Binzer. They classified his death as an accident.

According to the report, Binzer was discovered unconscious at a home on June 24, and he was later declared dead at 1213 hours.

Binzer was always open about his struggles with sobriety and even appeared on the reality TV show Celebrity Rehab for the show’s first two seasons in 2008.

Binzer is survived by three sons from three relationships.

In 2002, I was blessed to share my eldest son, Halo, with the wonderful Melissa Binzer when we tied the knot. However, our marital journey took an unexpected turn in 2011 when Melissa filed for divorce, marking the end of our union after six years of separation.

He later dated Tracy Shelor, whom he welcomed son Gage, who is now 15.

In the year 2010, Binzer entered into a romantic involvement with model Jasmine Lennard, and they are parents to their 14-year-old child named Phoenix. However, their bond dissolved following Binzer’s apprehension in 2012.

By June 2023, a police photo of Seth had spread widely online, as the celebrity appeared dramatically different compared to his former days with the band.

He  was arrested in Myrle Beach, South Carolina, for driving under the influence of alcohol in April 2023.

In a stark contrast to his past as a lively, youthful punk rocker, he appeared far removed from that phase when, following an unsuccessful sobriety test, he was photographed for his arrest record.

In a contrast from his youthful charm and avant-garde style, Seth seemed worn and unkempt in the photograph.

According to a police report acquired by TMZ, Seth was stopped by local officers after they observed him veering between lanes in a black sports utility vehicle (SUV).

Seth reportedly appeared lethargic and was slurring his words before failing a sobriety test.

A week ago, an altercation occurred between Seth and his bandmate Bobby Reeves from Crazy Town, which took place after a performance in Myrtle Beach, leading to a fistfight between them.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but feel the tension backstage during the concert, all because our lead singer, Shellshock, wasn’t there until the very end of the show – a fact that was confirmed by reports from TMZ.

In the role usually sung by Bobby, there was a performance full of mistakes and bitter remarks directed towards Seth, as evidenced in a video shared on TikTok.

After a bit of maneuvering, I found myself at the much-anticipated concert. A lively debate, which seemed quite intense, caught my attention – it was none other than me and Bobby, center stage in a social media video. As the day wore on, I noticed that Bobby appeared with a shiner in later posts, hinting at our spirited exchange of thoughts.

A video shared by TMZ shows the band members having heated disagreements about money off-stage, frequently resorting to physical confrontations, and Bobby even making menacing remarks directed at Seth’s relatives.

‘I think you’re a b**** a** motherf*****, homeboy,’ Bobby told Seth in the clip.

The exchange was finally broken up after Bobby hit Seth and the pair were on the ground scuffling.

The insiders revealed to the media that it was more like a heated sibling disagreement, but they’ve managed to make up since then.

In 2012, Seth expressed his apologies to his loved ones due to the shame he brought upon them following his conviction for drug possession and assault against his girlfriend.

He was sentenced to three years probation after entering a no contest plea to both counts in court.

Seth initially encountered his fellow frontman, Bret Mazur, back in 1992, and their band was originally known as Brimstone Sluggers at that time.

1999 saw the establishment of Crazy Town, with plans for them to embark on a tour during Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s Ozzfest in the following year. Unfortunately, Binzer was apprehended after he carelessly hurled a chair out a window while under the influence of alcohol.

In the year 2000, the timeless hit “Butterfly” reached the summit of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a fortnight, and it held the top spot in various other nations such as Austria, Denmark, and Norway.

The song uses “Pretty Little Ditty” originally from the 1989 album Mother’s Milk by Red Hot Chili Peppers, hence they are recognized as the composers.

Their debut album, The Gift of Game, sold more than 1.5 million copies.

However, after their 2002 follow-up Darkhorse was a flop, they parted ways.

In 2007, I was fortunate enough to rejoin the band, and we made our comeback on stage just two years later in 2009. Our third studio album, “The Brimstone Sluggers,” was released in 2015, marking another milestone for us.

In January 2017, the band member known as Epic (Mazur) made an announcement that he was leaving the group. Additionally, Rick Dixon, Nick Diiorio, and Kevin Kapler all decided to quit in April of the same year.
