Craig Revel Horwood says he’s taking some ‘much-needed time off’ from TV after Strictly Come Dancing finishes
As someone who has followed Craig Revel Horwood’s career for years, I can truly empathize with his need for a break. The man is a tireless workhorse, constantly juggling between Strictly Come Dancing, pantomimes, and various other projects. His 60th birthday next year seems like the perfect opportunity to take a well-deserved rest.
2025 will see Craig Revel Horwood stepping away for a bit to enjoy some well-deserved vacation, marking his 60th birthday celebration.
The Strictly Come Dancing judge, born on the 4th of January, confessed that he feels drained due to his relentless work schedule. He has been juggling non-stop filming for the BBC competition and performing in a Peter Pan panto in Milton Keynes.
Craig has shared that following the completion of the Strictly Live Tour in early February, he plans on taking a break for a few months.
As a diligent devotee, I find myself expressing in my own words: “Over the past period, I’ve been consistently engrossed in my work and next year marks my 60th milestone. More than any other time, I feel compelled to carve out a couple of months for personal reflection.
Craig will begin rehearsing for the Strictly Live tour in early January, and he shared that the dancers often become quite emotional when their final day of work arrives.
We begin the rehearsals for the Strictly Live Tour on January 6, marking the conclusion of everyone’s Strictly experience. The final moments can become quite emotional.

As a loyal fan, I can’t help but feel that the unique magic of this BBC series has suddenly vanished. Each year, it seems, we become an extended family, sharing more time together than most people realize.
Craig noted that towards the conclusion of the series, both the dancers and judges often experience a significant level of fatigue, even going so far as collapsing due to exhaustion during the Christmas season, after putting in such an immense effort during the demanding shows.
After Craig departed, Ben Shephard was taken aback when he revealed some spoilers during his appearance on ITV’s This Morning.
The judge joined the morning show host last week and before the dancing show judge’s interview even started, Ben warned him not to share any spoilers.
The star appeared on the show to promote his new pantomime Peter Pan in Milton Keynes Theatre and was dressed in full costume, complete with emerald green jacket and a ruffled collar.
In spite of being told to keep quiet about his personality as Captain Hook, the ex-ballroom dancer subtly revealed a significant clue regarding the upcoming events in the performance.
When Cat Deeley inquired if the most enjoyable aspect of appearing in the pantomime was taking on the villain’s role, Craig confirmed that indeed it was.
He expressed: “I assert that it’s the essential piece to possess. I truly enjoy stirring up trouble during the holidays, it’s what I look forward to most at Christmas time and helps keep me out of mischief.

He went on to say: ‘I love the booing, I love the whole sense of theatre about it, I love the dark and sinister side of it all, it’s great.
However, it’s not just challenging, but also quite entertaining. In the end, I receive my due punishment, and unfortunately, I meet an untimely demise at the jaws of the crocodile, which is somewhat disheartening.
However, Ben interjected, scolding the actor for disclosing Captain Hook’s fate, and the sparkling star playfully retorted that perhaps his character could be resurrected, causing the crowd to burst into hearty laughter.
On another occasion, Craig hasn’t made his debut on stage; he graced the stage previously and played the wicked stepmother in Cinderella at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton last year.
