As an ardent fan, I must say that Craig Doyle’s journey on Celebrity MasterChef has been nothing short of heartwarming and inspiring! His emotional display during the first episode was not just a testament to his culinary prowess but also a reflection of his genuine passion for cooking.
Craig Doyle became visibly emotional on Tuesday’s opening episode of Celebrity MasterChef.
The host of This Morning, who is 53 years old, was part of a group that included Charlotte Crosby from Geordie Shore, radio personality Edith Bowman, Ian ‘H’ Watkins from Steps, and Snoochie Shy, a contestant on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here, in the BBC series.
In the initial phase, famous personalities received an enigmatic cooking recipe that they had to recreate. Meanwhile, it fell upon Craig to prepare sweetbreads according to this secret recipe.
The judges, John Torode and Gregg Wallace, commended his work, as Gregg had earlier mentioned that the dish was one of his favorites.
“The sweetbreads you prepared are excellent! They have a delightful crunchiness on the inside, a beautifully soft and well-cooked center. There’s also a hint of citrus on top, which I find adds a nice touch.”

The sports presenter was overcome with emotion and was a little shocked by the positive feedback.
He said: ‘I did not expect that. I loved what they said and I’m really buzzed about it.’
Craig was even proclaimed the top chef of the episode and advanced onto the next round.
Moments before cooking his winning dish, Craig harbored hope that his background in live TV might prove beneficial in the kitchen, yet he remained uncertain about it.
In simpler terms, he mentioned that he frequently performs on live television, which can be unpredictable as you have to respond quickly and maintain composure. He hopes this skill comes in handy, but admittedly, he tends to forget things often.
Moreover, the celebrity from television admitted that he spends considerable time preparing meals at home for his spouse Doon and their children as well.
As a seasoned parent of four lively kids, I can attest to the fact that cooking at home is more than just a hobby – it’s a necessity! With Quinn (21), Muireann (18), Milo (13), and Elsa (13) under my roof, I find myself in the kitchen quite often, whipping up hearty meals to fuel their energy. The joy of seeing them dig into a home-cooked meal is priceless, making all the effort worthwhile. And let me tell you, naming each one to avoid trouble is a daily reminder of the unique personalities and lives that fill our home!

‘But that’s family cooking, it’s a bit different, isn’t it?’
To begin with, it was Snoochie who got eliminated from the competition, as she didn’t manage to win over the judges with her cooking abilities.
In the 19th series, notable actors such as Christine McGuinness (a model and television personality) and Danielle Harold (previously from EastEnders) are competing to be crowned champion.
In the upcoming season of MasterChef, every celebrity contestant will don their aprons and get ready to cook, with only one emerging victorious at the end of this culinary competition and claiming the title of MasterChef Champion 2024. Just like Wynne Evans did last year, the winner will carry on the tradition.
