Courteney Cox honors Friends co-star Matthew Perry with emotional post one year after his death

On Monday, the 60-year-old actress, who famously played the late actor’s on-screen wife Monica Geller for years on their beloved sitcom, shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute featuring two photos of them. 

At the 2005 premiere of Daisy Does America, the initial photo captured the duo beaming and exchanging a warm embrace, with their faces close together.

In November 2023, his close friends announced the formation of a foundation in his name. 

According to the organization, the Matthew Perry Foundation embodies Matthew’s long-term dedication to assisting individuals battling addiction issues.

The organization strives to uphold Perry’s memory by attempting to impact a multitude of lives positively.

As a compassionate lifestyle guide, I wholeheartedly align with the sentiments expressed by Matthew Perry when he stated his wish to be recognized for his efforts in supporting those battling addiction. This heartfelt aspiration is beautifully reflected on the Matthew Perry Foundation’s website.

The quotation goes like this: Instead of my friends being the initial topic when I pass away, I prefer it if acts of kindness and helping others are the first things that come up in conversation.

I intend to spend the remainder of my days demonstrating this fact. Overcoming addiction is a battle too great for any single person. However, united and taking it one day at a time, we can surely conquer it.

In May, Cox revealed Perry still ‘visits’ her from time to time.

Cox expressed gratitude for having worked closely with him over numerous years. He often comes to see me, as one might expect, according to his statement on CBS Sunday Mornings.

She mentioned, “I chat with my mom, my dad, and Matthew. It seems to me as though many individuals play a significant role in providing guidance for us.

‘I do sense — I sense Matthew’s around for sure,’ she added.

Friends ran for 10 years from 1994 to 2004 and continues to be successful in syndication on Max.

Perry, who passed away at age at age 54, and Cox first met on set of Friends in 1994.

After wrapping up their TV series, the duo maintained contact over the years and eventually appeared together in an episode of her program titled “Cougar Town.

2015 saw him express to Buzzfeed that they make an effort to meet up whenever they can. Courteney excels at hosting, and her residence in Malibu is charming, so they aim to visit her beautiful abode as frequently as they can.

In 2021, the original cast of our beloved friends reunited for an unplanned, spontaneous TV special, which was ably hosted by James Corden.

‘Reuniting this cast again – I knew it was gonna be a really seriously emotional experience. And it has been,’ Perry said during the reunion. 

At that point in time, Cox shared with Good Morning America: “None of us expected to be as emotionally moved as we were when stepping onto the set. It was almost identical, save for Lisa’s taken cookie jar and Jennifer’s neon coffee mug. Apart from those items, it was exactly as it used to be.

Apart from its unique characteristics, it was strikingly similar. The experience was so deeply moving that we couldn’t help but shed tears, as she reminisced.
