Tanner Usrey was arrested and charged with DWI and drug possession in the state of Texas on Monday.
The 32-year-old country singer – who is known for hits such as Take Me Home and Hold On To Me – was taken into custody by the McKinney Police Department in Collin County on March 30.
The artist was released from jail the same day after paying a $12,500 bond, according to Collin County records.
Usrey was charged with driving while intoxicated as well as two drug possession charges.
According to the booking information, it is the star’s second DWI charge.
As a lifestyle observer, I’ve been watching this artist’s rise, and 2023 was definitely a turning point for them. That’s when they released their first studio album, ‘Crossing Lines,’ and it really put them on the map within the industry. It was the project that got people talking and opened a lot of doors!
And last year, Usrey released his second LP titled These Days.
Even before his albums came out, the artist had been pursuing his love of music, starting to perform live in the early 2010s.
His track The Light would later be featured in an episode of the hit series Yellowstone in 2022.
He then signed a deal with Atlantic Records where he officially dropped Crossing Lines.
His second album, ‘These Days,’ was released to fans last July, and he’s been thinking about the album’s overall message recently.
Usrey explained to Rolling Stone that while the songs still deal with heartbreak, they explore the topic with a more grown-up perspective. The album focuses on appreciating small victories, which inspired the title, ‘These Days’.
He shared that he wants to cherish every small moment and be grateful for each day, both his own and those of others.
‘It’s not all self-destruction anymore, it’s about real stuff.’
Usrey also discussed the kind of shows he likes to put on for fans.
I want the audience to genuinely feel like they’ve experienced the best show possible. It might sound arrogant, but my goal is for people to be blown away, thinking something like, ‘Wow, that band is incredibly good, and the singer is amazing!’
The country singer will be performing later this month on April 11th at the Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo in Texas.
He’s also scheduled to play several shows this month, including at Larry Joe Taylor’s Texas Music Festival on April 23rd.
Later on May 2, Usrey is slated to make an appearance at Rock the Country Bellville 2026.
In a past interview with People magazine, the celebrity shared how they first became interested in music when they were a child.
‘I was the annoying one that would always sing in class,’ he recalled to the outlet.
‘I was always just humming and singing. My dad would always tell me to shut up sometimes.’
I recently read an interview with Usrey in the Nashville Voyager, and he really opened up about some of the tough hurdles he’s overcome while chasing his goals. It was inspiring to hear how he navigated those challenges on his journey.
I’ve always worked hard to earn my opportunities, and I actually enjoy that struggle. It’s been rewarding, and things have turned out well so far.
The singer recalled working a regular day job, questioning if they could ever make a living pursuing music.
Honestly, the moment I bravely quit my job, things haven’t always been easy, but it’s been an incredible journey – one I’m still on, every single day. It was the best decision I ever made, even with all the ups and downs!
