Country star Zach Bryan apologizes after ‘drunken’ Taylor Swift and Kanye West tweet
As a dedicated music enthusiast, I’ve been following the career of this young artist with great interest. From his humble beginnings on YouTube to signing with a major label and achieving mainstream success, it’s clear that he has an undeniable talent and a deep passion for his craft. However, it’s also evident that he carries a heavy burden, navigating personal challenges while maintaining the pressures of fame.
Perhaps Zach Bryan could decide to step back from The Great American Bar Scene following the controversy caused by his tweet, which seemed to favor Kanye West over Taylor Swift and was perceived as being sent under the influence of alcohol.
On Wednesday, Bryan, aged 28, who had previously deactivated his account on the platform that was once known as Twitter, ignited outrage by publishing this statement: “I support the Eagles over the Chiefs, and Kanye West over Taylor Swift – who’s with me?
On Tuesday evening, a tweet was posted that criticized Taylor Swift, aged 34, in two aspects. Initially, it mentioned her boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce (also 34), by implying that the Philadelphia Eagles are superior to the Kansas City Chiefs. Subsequently, it seemed to attack her music and allude to her complex relationship with Kanye West, aged 47.
Initially, the post sparked intense anger. On September 19, the artist from Pink Skies took to Instagram to issue an extended apology, admitting that in his inebriated state, he unintentionally drew a comparison between two artists, which he regrettably expressed in an unfortunate manner.
In a series of posts on his Instagram stories, Bryan, originally from Oklahoma, clarified that his previous statements were not intended as criticism toward Taylor Swift. He included a screenshot of Taylor’s song “Fortnite” featuring Post Malone to emphasize his point.
He went on to say, “There’s a lot of confusion surrounding Ye, but let me clarify – I’m talking about music here. I’m a big fan of Taylor Swift’s tunes, and I hope you all understand that I make mistakes and tweet carelessly sometimes.
Later on, Bryan expressed that he chose to remove his X account since it frequently lands him in unnecessary troubles.
He expressed that it would be wisest for him to avoid it, and he apologized to any Taylor Swift fans whom he may have disappointed or upset. Despite this, he loves you all and is doing his best!
On the following slide, Bryan confessed that he was experiencing some difficulties in his life currently, and was expressing himself indirectly, by referring to the Grammy-winning artist’s song The Albatross.
‘To be completely honest, it just came off as rude and desensitized to Taylor,’ he acknowledged.
I hold her musical abilities in such high regard that it’s crucial to me that others don’t misconstrue my feelings; I admire and cherish the significant impact she’s made on music.
‘Don’t drink and tweet. Don’t drink and tweet!!’
Bryan went on to apologize further, using Taylor Swift’s song “Castle’s Crumbling,” which features Hayley Williams, to illustrate Taylor as an unstoppable power or natural force.
He mentioned, “I always strive to avoid any semblance of ill-will or unkindness being perceived towards anyone, and that’s the reason behind what I’m expressing now.
In his last post on Instagram, the acclaimed artist confessed that the year 2024 presented unique challenges for him, ones that were deeply personal and have remained unshared until now. He further revealed that he has been struggling to manage and find equilibrium amidst an overwhelming assortment of responsibilities.
I plan to pause my social media activity with less intelligent posts, complete my tour, and find some stability amidst everything,” he summarized.
Each day, I count my blessings with profound gratitude. I never let this blessing slip away from me, as it holds immense significance in my life.
‘Okay, needed to get this off my chest, y’all are the best and I’ll see you at Bourbon and Beyond.’
It’s not the first time the country hitmaker has gotten into trouble over his social media posts.
Last month, he deactivated his Instagram after a fiery rant about parenting.
2017 saw Bryan begin sharing his compositions on YouTube. His first full-length album, titled “DeAnn” in honor of his deceased mother, was launched in the year 2019.
2020 saw the release of his second album, titled Elisabeth, along with an EP named Quiet, Heavy Dreams. It was prior to him signing with Warner Music in 2021.
I made my significant breakthrough with a major label in 2022 through the release of “American Heartbreak,” an album that garnered widespread popularity thanks to the success of my chart-topping hit, “Something In the Orange.
Initially, this song entered the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts at position 55. Eventually, it rose to reach the tenth spot as its highest rank. Meanwhile, the album first appeared at number 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart upon release.
In August 2023, he launched his own album titled similarly to himself. This album opened at the top of the Billboard 200 chart and included his first number-one single, “I Remember Everything,” a collaboration with Kacey Musgraves.
In July, his fifth studio album titled “The Great American Bar Scene” was released, with renowned musicians like John Mayer and Bruce Springsteen making special appearances on it.
