Country star Thomas Rhett welcomes FIFTH child with wife Lauren and reveals newborn’s VERY unique name

Country singer Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, welcomed their fifth child on Friday.

Singer Jennifer Lopez and author Ben Affleck announced the birth of their son, Brave Elijah Akins, in a sweet joint post on Instagram.

The couple, who are also parents to four daughters, shared several sweet photos of their new baby, including a touching picture of the father cradling him.

A heartwarming photo showed his wife in the hospital, happily holding their newborn son and smiling brightly.

We’re so excited to welcome baby Brave! We’re absolutely overjoyed to announce the arrival of our sweet baby boy.

Little Elijah Akins arrived last week, weighing in at almost 10 pounds! He came a little early – about two weeks before his due date – and we’re so grateful he didn’t wait any longer to make his debut.

Rhett’s wife shared that he was her greatest support during labor and delivery, and even assisted with delivering their son.

Oh, it was such a sweet moment! He was the very first to find out the gender, and honestly, he was so emotional! He announced to everyone, with tears in his eyes and a little bit of shock, ‘It’s a boy!’ It was just incredibly touching to witness.

The new parents finished writing their announcement, sharing, ‘We’re so thankful God brought you into our lives, sweet baby! Your four sisters already adore you, and we are completely in love with our strong, little boy.’

A flurry of A-list pals rushed to the comments to shower the growing family with congratulations. 

Country singer Megan Moroney expressed her excitement and happiness for the couple, commenting, “AMAZING!!!! SO HAPPY FOR YALL!”

Singer Tucker Wetmore wrote, ‘Congrats my friend.. God is good.’

Actress Sadie Robertson Huff added, ‘Awwwww YAY YAY! Congrats.’

The duo announced that they were expecting a fifth child in August of 2025.

The singer, with 7.8 million social media followers, announced their pregnancy, writing, ‘Here we go again!’ They also shared that their older daughters are thrilled and expressed gratitude, saying, ‘God is so good.’

In addition to their new baby, the couple have four daughters. They adopted Willa Gray, now 10, from Uganda in 2017, and are also parents to Ada James, 8, Lennon Love, 6, and Lillie Carolina, 4.

Rhett explained, accompanying himself on guitar, that he was still adjusting to becoming a father, and it had unexpectedly changed everything they’d planned.

Lauren’s pregnant now – another one on the way! That makes five children under ten years old. It’s amazing, isn’t it? Life really does change. You wake up and everything is different. Yes, life changes.

She happily showed off the ultrasound pictures of their baby, and a lot of people commenting online expressed hope that it would be a boy.

The Grammy-nominated artist first met his wife when they were both in elementary school, and they began dating in middle school. They recently celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary on October 12th.

In 2024, Rhett’s wife revealed she used to feel resentful towards him because his thriving music career meant she couldn’t pursue her dream of working as a full-time registered nurse after completing her training.

Just three months after we brought our daughter, Willa, home from Uganda, I gave birth to our daughter, Ada James. It felt like we went from having one child to two very quickly! Soon after, I started traveling with my husband, and I was exhausted, constantly trying to keep up with his schedule and recapture how things felt before Ada was born, as Lauren shared on I Am Second.

It felt like my life stalled while his continued, and we grew apart. We struggled to communicate, and I began to harbor resentment, even after adopting. Eventually, I reached a point where I simply didn’t like him anymore and couldn’t forgive the things that had happened.

She recalled a moment after a fight, looking at him in the closet and saying, “I hate you. I feel so alone and lost, and I resent the demands of your job and the strain it puts on our family. I especially hate that we’ve brought our daughters into this situation.”

After attending a two-and-a-half-day counseling session, the deeply religious couple was able to repair their marriage.

In addition to enjoying his family, Rhett has been focused on his career. He put out his seventh album, “About a Woman,” this year.

Rhett will be joining Morgan Wallen on his ‘Still The Problem’ tour as a special guest, starting April 10th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
