Cody Johnson happily announced that he and his wife, Brandi, welcomed their third child, and first son, on October 21st – almost a month ago!
The country singer, age 38, married Brandi in 2008. They are parents to two daughters: Clara Mae, who is 10, and Cori, who is 8.
He announced in May, through People magazine, that he and his wife are expecting a baby boy, using the announcement as their gender reveal.
He’s thrilled to announce the birth of his new baby, Jaycee Daniel!
He shared on Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton that his mother and he are both doing well and are happy to be home, calling it a great experience.
Johnson explained why he waited three weeks to share the news, saying he and Brandi are both private people.

He explained that while some artists are constantly sharing online, he prefers to keep a low profile. He feels most connected to the world when he’s performing on stage, but values his privacy away from it.
The singer behind ‘Til You Can’t also explained his reasoning for sharing the news while on Lon Helton’s radio show.
Okay, so my publicist was totally bugging me about how and when we were going to let everyone know, and I just told them people would find out eventually. Honestly, there was no way I could avoid talking about it – especially if Lon asked! He brought it up, and I couldn’t just pretend it didn’t happen. Plus, with the CMAs right around the corner, someone was going to ask, so it was going to come out anyway. And the big news? His birthday is October 21st! I’m just so excited for everyone to finally know!
The man, originally from the Huntsville area of Texas, fondly remembered the night his youngest child was born.
I remember it was 1:00 AM and I couldn’t sleep. Then, around 2:30 AM, Brandi told me her water had broken. I immediately started thinking about how fast we could get to the hospital and realized her truck could go about 125 miles per hour.
In May, while at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, Johnson shared the exciting news that he and his wife are expecting their third child – a baby boy.
He lovingly spoke about his daughters, saying there’s nothing he cherishes more than his relationship with them. Clara, age 10, and Cori, age 8, are both girls he’s thrilled to have involved in raising his new son.
He’s in a much better place with his career and finances now compared to when his daughters were young. He feels his son will have opportunities come more easily than his daughters did, and be able to enjoy certain things sooner.

Johnson shared with a laugh that he was thrilled to be having a son, but added that he truly just wanted a healthy baby. He admitted he was especially excited when he found out the gender at the reveal.
It’s funny how life works, isn’t it? My little Jaycee arrived just two weeks after we had to sadly cancel the rest of my 2025 tour. I ended up with a burst eardrum that needed surgery, and of course, family comes first. It was a tough time, but honestly, the best kind of detour!
He explained that he ruptured his eardrum while fighting a bad cold and sinus infection, and needs surgery right away because the tear is serious.
Johnson recently shared news of his son’s birth and gave an update on his own health, saying he’s recovering well. He explained that his eardrum has healed and, surprisingly, he’s been singing again. He joked that his voice actually sounds better than usual because he hadn’t been singing for a while.
He said they’re aiming to release the record next year, with plans to record vocals in January and finish everything up in February. The album is almost complete – they just need a few guest appearances from Luke Combs and Brothers Osborne to finalize it.
Despite being nominated for five awards at the Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday night – including Entertainer of the Year – he won’t be performing at the show.
I had a chance to participate, but we decided it wasn’t worth potentially slowing down my recovery. I also felt it wouldn’t be right to attend actively when fans had previously missed out on shows. I’ll be there to enjoy the event as a spectator, though.
He’s already been announced as a host for the show and thinks he’ll be introducing Lainey Wilson’s performance. “I’ll be part of it, but not in the way I’d hoped,” Johnson explained.
