Country star Alan Jackson retires from touring
Country star Alan Jackson has retired from touring after more than three decades on the road.
Previously affected by health problems, Jackson, who is 66 years old, had declared that he was retiring from touring. The final stop of his ongoing tour, titled “Last Call: One More for the Road,” took place in Milwaukee over the weekend.
Jackson shared with the audience that he’s essentially wrapping up his professional journey. He mentioned that this tour could be his final one, and it might bring tears to his eyes.
It seems unlikely that this performance marks the end of Jackson’s career; instead, he mentioned plans for a grand finale show in Nashville during the following summer. He expressed a desire to conclude his tour where it all began, and that place is none other than Nashville, Tennessee. However, this will be his last roadshow performance.
A year after disclosing his battle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a condition similar to muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s that affects motor functions, Jackson embarked on this tour. Although the disease is not life-threatening, it lacks a cure at present, and according to him, it hinders his ability to deliver live performances effectively.
The two-time Grammy-winning artist who’s famously known for songs like “Chattahoochee”, has expressed his intention to carry on creating and recording music. In an interview on his daughter Mattie Jackson’s podcast in 2023, he stated, “I have a feeling there will be more tunes to share, indeed.” He added that the creative spark occasionally surfaces within him.
As a movie critic, I’d say: In the realm of contemporary country music, I stand as one of its most successful and honored performers. My career culminated with my induction into the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017.
