Country singer Conner Smith was ‘behind the wheel’ of car that fatally hit elderly woman
On the evening of Sunday, June 8th, it’s alleged that country artist Conner Smith hit and fatally injured an elderly lady with his car.
On Monday, as reported by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, it was stated that the 24-year-old artist struck and fatally hit an elderly woman named Dorothy Dobbins (age 77) with his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
According to reports, it’s alleged that while under Big Machine Records, the same label as Taylor Swift, Smith reportedly struck Dobbins as she was crossing the road at a designated pedestrian crossing.
Representatives for Smith have been reached out to by DailyMail.com for a comment, however, no response has been received as of now.
As per the police report, Dobbins was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she subsequently passed away. Notably, the incident occurred close to a crosswalk which authorities claim was struck by Smith.
The police claimed that Smith not giving priority to the pedestrian, which apparently played a role in the incident.
Officials mentioned that there were no indications of Smith being under the influence, however, whether he was screened for substance abuse (drugs or alcohol) remains unclear at this time.
At present, no charges have been brought against the singer regarding the incident, however, the police inquiry concerning the accident remains active.
According to statements made to several news outlets by attorney Worrick G. Robinson, it was reported that Smith was unfortunately involved in a car crash that resulted in a fatal outcome.
Robinson expressed his deep sympathy for the Dobbins family as they navigate through this exceptionally tough period, and he assured that Mr. Smith remains completely forthcoming in the ongoing probe.
TMZ first reported that Smith had alleged struck and killed Dobbins.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the incident involving Smith was regrettably an accident, and it’s been asserted that he was not affected by any intoxicating substances at the time.
They also alleged that he wasn’t distracted by his phone before the crash.
