Country singer Conner Smith involved in fatal truck-pedestrian crash in Nashville
Last Sunday evening in Nashville, it was reported that Conner Smith, an emerging star in the country music scene who was nominated as Best New Male Artist at last year’s ACM Awards, is suspected of hitting a 77-year-old pedestrian. Sadly, the woman passed away from the incident.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department’s statement, it seems that the initial cause of the accident might have been Smith not giving the right of way to the pedestrian. There is no indication of impairment on his part. Currently, no charges have been filed since the investigation is ongoing.

As stated by the police, Dorothy Dobbins resided close by and was the individual involved in the accident. At the moment of impact, which took place approximately 7:30 p.m., she was crossing the road within a designated pedestrian zone. Tragically, Dobbins passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as reported by the authorities.
In early 2024, the artist known for his viral “I Hate Alabama” song watched as his 2023 track “Creek Will Rise” made its way onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He was invited to be a special guest on Luke Bryan’s annual Farm Tour, a project geared towards bringing what Bryan refers to as “big city” country music to rural areas. The 2025 edition of Farm Tour visited California’s Merced, Fresno, and Kern counties in May, and will feature three Midwest shows in September.
Smith’s lawyer expressed sympathy for the Dobbins family, stating that the singer is deeply affected by their hardship during this challenging period. The statement also confirmed his participation in the accident and mentioned that he is working with law enforcement.
Smith is slated to kick off performances for Bryan this coming Saturday in Florida, at the Boston Red Sox’s “Fenway South” spring-training ground in Fort Myers. He has concerts lined up across the nation throughout the summer, one of which includes opening for Brett Young on Aug. 8 at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa.
