Zach Bryan and Gavin Adcock, both country music singers, recently had a physical fight at a festival in Oklahoma after weeks of publicly arguing. It’s unlikely they’ll perform together anytime soon.
The incident occurred right before Adcock was about to perform at the Born & Raised Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma.
An Instagram video posted by Adcock depicts a tense standoff between Adcock and Bryan, where they are seen yelling at each other across a chain-link fence with barbed wire on top.
In the video, Bryan challenges someone to fight and asks for the gate between them to be opened. Other footage shows Bryan scaling the barbed-wire fence while Adcock steps back, and security guards intervene to separate the two.
An Instagram video posted by Adcock claimed that Bryan made death threats during an argument, and included the message, “Eat a Snickers bro.” Later that same day, Bryan also insulted someone while signing their cowboy hat.
Riley Adcock, a musician with a large following on Instagram (725,000 followers), released his album “Own Worst Enemy” in August. He caused a stir in June when he publicly criticized Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” album, stating emphatically that it wasn’t country music. This came after Beyoncé had recently won Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album, for “Cowboy Carter.”
Zach Bryan, a 29-year-old singer-songwriter and Navy veteran, has quickly gained a large following with 4.9 million Instagram followers. His most recent album, simply titled “Zach Bryan,” came out in 2023. The New York Times recently described him as an unwilling but rising star in the music industry.
The conflict between Adcock and Bryan began in July after Adcock criticized Bryan for being overly sensitive and skipping a fan meet-and-greet following a concert. Adcock then intensified these criticisms in an interview with Rolling Stone’s “Nashville Now.”
According to Adcock, Zach Bryan often presents a carefully constructed public persona, but occasionally lets his guard down and reveals his authentic self. Adcock questioned whether Bryan is genuinely as admirable as he appears.
Representatives for Adcock and Bryan did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
