As a gaming enthusiast, I just checked out the new movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” that’s been making waves recently. Critics initially gave it a thumbs-up with an impressive 82% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it’s since dipped slightly to 77%. Still, it seems like it’s worth giving a shot!
The Tim Burton movie has been a smash hit at the box office, earning an impressive $110 million in only a few short days, even surpassing the total earnings of the original film throughout its entire run.
In a continuation set thirty years after the 1988 storyline, we find that Lydia’s (Winona Ryder) daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega), reopens the gateway to the Afterlife when the Deetz family moves back to Winter River.
Alongside Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, the movie sees the return of Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice.
In our review on Digital Spy with a rating of three stars, we pointed out: “Burton appears to be heading in the right path this time, yet he achieves this by revisiting one of his most renowned characters, thus overlooking some key elements that made his past creations uniquely captivating.
Has he managed to create more unique, invigorating films like before, or is he now relying on his earlier successes for inspiration?” (Or)
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is out now in cinemas.
