As a long-time SWAT fan with a heart that beats for Stris (Street and Tan), I must admit, Season 7 was a breath of fresh air. The hint of an engagement party had my heart racing! But now, as we gear up for Season 8, the question on everyone’s lips is: Will we see the much-anticipated Stris wedding?
In the seventh season of SWAT, Stris’s fans received exciting news. Street hinted at hosting a get-together with Tan, suggesting an engagement celebration. He asked for secrecy, even from Chris, implying that their bond was thriving.
At that point, it was intended to be the last season. It seems they added that plotline to keep Stris fans informed after such a prolonged wait for their relationship development. Now that SWAT Season 8 is approaching, there’s speculation about whether we might witness a Stris wedding. Will we get to see them tie the knot?
Lina Esco and Alex Russell are not coming back to SWAT
Initially, I regret to inform you, actress Lina Esco will not be returning for future seasons of our show, as she departed following the completion of five seasons. Although we’ve received occasional updates about her character from Street, it seems unlikely that she will reappear.
In the final season, Alex Russell appeared in just one episode, which left fans feeling disgruntled and upset. However, it’s not confirmed that he will reappear on screen; instead, there’s a possibility he might work behind the scenes. But if circumstances change favorably, we may see him again on-screen, so let’s keep hope alive for now.
Showrunner Andrew Dettman expressed his desire for the Stris wedding to take place, as these characters remain integral members of the SWAT team.
The Stris wedding won’t happy off-screen on SWAT
It’s exciting to share that Dettman has revealed to TVLine that any potential wedding they might have will indeed be shown on the screen, not left for viewers to discover later. He understands how frustrating it could be for fans if such a significant event was kept off-screen.
Dettman suggests that there’s an opportunity for certain characters to reappear in SWAT Season 8, given that Esco and Russell manage to coordinate their schedules. Under such circumstances, a potential wedding scene might take place within the series.
