Cosy-crime adaptation billed as ‘perfect for Thursday Murder Club fans’ is a new arrival to UK streaming
A cosy crime series has been added to UK streaming.
Sunset Grove is a Finnish drama set in a retirement home that’s rocked by a suspicious death.
Siiri, Irma, and Anna-Liisa choose to act as amateur sleuths, determined to unravel the mystery on their own. This group of friends establishes The Lavender Ladies Investigation Bureau.

In the course of their ongoing inquiry, it becomes clear that the charming exterior of their neighborhood may conceal a dark and ominous truth.
Eight episodes, all now available on Channel 4’s streaming platform, are categorized under the Walter Presents label, which features foreign-language content.
The show is based on the novel “Death in Sunset Grove,” which initiates the “Lavender Ladies Detective Agency” series.
This novel on Amazon is characterized as an engaging, cozy mystery, ideal for readers who enjoy Richard Osman’s ‘The Thursday Murder Club‘ and M C Beaton’s ‘Agatha Raisin’ series.”
In this version, I have used “engaging” instead of “rip-roaring” to give a similar sense of excitement and fun, while keeping the tone more conversational. Also, I have replaced “perfect for fans of” with “ideal for readers who enjoy” to make it sound slightly less marketing-oriented and more inviting.
Meanwhile, The Thursday Murder Club itself is making the jump from book to screen soon.
The first novel in Osman’s own series is coming to Netflix in movie form at the end of August.
The movie boasts an impressive ensemble of actors, featuring the likes of Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, David Tennant, and Naomi Ackie.
As a game enthusiast, I can’t wait to dive into the latest adventure of the Thursday Murder Club! The fifth novel, “The Impossible Fortune,” is due out in September on the book side.
According to the summary, the storyline will involve a wedding, a mysterious code that cannot be solved, and an extraordinary fortune unlike anything you’ve ever imagined. The theme revolves around the concepts of luck, randomness, and the unexpected events life presents to us.
Sunset Grove is available to watch now on Channel 4’s streaming service.
As a passionate fan, I’m thrilled to announce that Digital Spy’s first print magazine has arrived! Grab your copy of “British Comedy Legends” from newsagents or online for an unbeatable price of only £3.99. Let’s laugh together over the brilliance of British comedy!
