Coronation Street’s Melissa Johns has welcomed her first child with her husband Dan Hampton.
The 35-year-old actress, known for her role as Imogen Pascoe on the soap opera, announced the birth of her daughter on Instagram Tuesday, sharing adorable photos of the newborn.
Melissa and Dan were seen leaving the hospital with their new baby, carefully carrying them in a car seat.
She wrote: ‘Our baby girl is here. We can’t take our eyes off of you.’
Another photo showed the tot in a cradle with her tiny feet poking over the top of the basket.
Before giving birth, Mellissa responded to online criticism, explaining that she believed people underestimated her ability to become a mother simply because of her disability.

The actress known for her role in Grantchester shared in June that she is pregnant with her first baby. She was born without a right forearm or hand.
Although Melissa feels empowered by her pregnancy despite having a disability, she shared that some people have made her feel as though her condition restricts what she can do.
The activist shared with The Mirror that she’s faced a lifetime of comments and judgment about her arm, leading others to suggest her disability would prevent her from becoming a mother.
Honestly, it just kills me how people try to bring her down! She explained it perfectly, though – becoming a mom has totally changed everything. She said it feels like all those old limitations just… vanished. It’s like, for years people tried to tell her what she couldn’t do, and now, while growing this little human, she feels absolutely limitless. It’s such a beautiful thing to hear, and honestly, it makes me tear up every time. It’s like a full-circle moment – being told you can’t do something, then experiencing the most powerful, freeing feeling imaginable while creating life. I just adore her.
I was really struck by what Melissa shared. She explained that growing up, she was always told she was ‘special and brave,’ and honestly, that’s helped her cope with people commenting on her body now that she’s pregnant. She said it’s not exactly shocking to her, because she’s dealt with unwanted attention her whole life. It’s a really powerful way of looking at it, and it made me see things from a completely different perspective.
She explained that her dislike of her changing body during adolescence wasn’t about her personal feelings, but something imposed upon her.
‘It was a product of how I was told I should feel about my body.’
Melissa announced the joyful news earlier this year with a sweet clip.

She announced her pregnancy with a sweet post featuring baby booties and a photo of her scan taken on the beach. The caption read: ‘Oh Baby. We wished for this and it came true…’
‘Baby H-J – we can’t wait to meet you. Forever grateful.’
The video showed the couple walking onto the beach, and then the woman, wearing a lovely red and pink dress, gently touched her baby bump as she turned around.
Last October, Melissa exchanged vows with partner Dan in a romantic Hertfordshire ceremony.
