Actress Sair Khan, known for her role on Coronation Street, excited followers by announcing her upcoming comeback to the ITV soap opera on Tuesday, only a few short months following the arrival of her first baby.
36-year-old actress born in Leeds, who’s been portraying Ayla Nazir since 2014, and her partner Nathan Chilton, became parents to a baby boy in April.
Throughout her pregnancy, which was announced in December of the previous year, she continued working until only a few days prior to the arrival of her newborn.
Now, in an exciting update, Sair has confirmed she’s preparing to return to the cobbles.
The actor from the soap opera shared a photo on Instagram Stories featuring a Coronation Street script and mug, tagged as ‘#Backstreet’ along with the date ‘September 2024’.
In the story, it was depicted that Sair’s character developed a connection with her superior, Adam Barlow (played by Sam Robertson), only to eventually choose to depart from Weatherfield for an employment offer in Dublin.
Fans will have to wait a little longer to find out what’s in store for Ayla upon her return.
In May, Sair announced the arrival of her baby boy, posting a heartwarming collection of images showing the couple lovingly holding their little newborn.
In a lengthy post, she shared candidly about her experience with motherhood and pregnancy, offering followers an in-depth look at her ‘thrilling’ labor journey.
In the carousel, she shared a sweet snap of Nathan gently holding the teeny tiny one on his chest.
‘He’s here!,’ she penned thrilled.
In my previous message, I used the term “Spring awakening” metaphorically and not literally to imply a renewal or reawakening, not to suggest that I wanted you to keep me awake. It’s undeniable that new parents can certainly look like zombies, isn’t it?
Most significantly, our young son is simply remarkable. He’s incredibly serious and has an insatiable curiosity about the world around him. His strength and resilience are truly awe-inspiring, as he bravely accompanied me throughout the 22-hour labor ride that turned out to be quite the thrilling rollercoaster. Although the birth didn’t turn out exactly as I had envisioned (with two birthing pools, but no water birth), it’s all right.
She detailed her labor process, saying, “Let me tell you about the labor ordeal… It was intense and instinctive, and I’m grateful I remained open-minded without any preconceived notions, because honestly, I never imagined it would be such an unpredictable journey.
Since that time, we’ve been tirelessly working on solving puzzles related to latches, sickness, and tears, all while battling sleep deficiency and the minor challenge of healing ourselves as well.
As a lifestyle expert, I tip my hat to every new parent bravely navigating their way through those initial days and weeks. It’s an extraordinary journey, filled with joy, challenges, and a whole lot of learning. Keep pushing forward, you’re doing an amazing job!
We’ve successfully started this journey and I’m incredibly thankful for our newborn’s good health, as well as Nathan and all those who stand by us. Their understanding, kindness, and thoughtful messages during late nights have been a source of strength and encouragement for me.

Given the current global circumstances, it seemed inappropriate to post something, yet we understand the importance of maintaining optimism and sending positive vibes for peace. At the same time, we are deeply appreciative and thankful for all the good things in our lives.
2022 saw me, an ardent admirer, witnessing Nathan undergo a remarkable medical journey. In that year, he bravely faced a chondroblastoma surgery – a procedure designed to eliminate a tumor from his pelvis. This brave act of resilience is just another testament to his incredible strength and dedication.
She said: ‘Last year was a challenging time for us both with Nathan’s chondroblastoma surgery on his pelvis. It’s been a long road to recovery and still has many obstacles ahead as we deal with the spread of the tumour to his lungs.
Life may present hardships and bring forth obstacles, yet it offers valuable insights and treasures worth keeping. Our anticipation is high as we eagerly look forward to Baby Chilton’s arrival in Spring 2024.
In the year 2021, Sair and Nathan made their relationship official. However, their friendship blossomed into something more towards the end of 2020, following an introduction by a common acquaintance.
Concerning Nathan’s operation, Sair expressed great admiration for her companion, stating in her message: “Nathan has been going through a lengthy process to get rid of his pelvic chondroblastoma. I am incredibly proud of him.
He shares his personal journey through life changes on YouTube, intending to provide assistance to those encountering similar transitions.
‘Going through such an experience can leave you feeling quite lonely. I’m incredibly proud of him for his courage to share his emotions openly, hoping it will help others not feel as isolated.’
Before getting into a relationship with Nathan, Sair had been in a two-year relationship with the actor Simon Lennon from Emmerdale, which ended in 2019.
