Coronation Street star Rupert Hill looks unrecognisable as he returns to acting after quitting showbiz to run a Manchester pub

Coronation Street star Rupert Hill looked unrecognisable as he announced his return to acting.

Former Coronation Street actor Jamie Baldwin, age 47, left acting after appearing on the show from 2004 to 2008. He now runs several pubs in Manchester, including the Castle Hotel, Gulliver’s, and the Eagle Inn, which he co-owns with his wife, Jenny Platt.

He’s recently started acting again, and his latest project, a short film called Operation Magpie, is now available on YouTube.

Rupert collaborated with Julie Hesmondhalgh, who many know as Hayley Cropper from Coronation Street, on a film he both starred in and helped direct.

Earlier this month, Rupert performed in the Christmas show ‘Tinsel’ at The Edge theatre in Manchester.

He recently appeared in “The Fire Raisers” at the Hope Mill Theatre in September and also directed the tour of Mike Bartlett’s play, “COCK”.

It comes after he stepped away from the spotlight to focus on a career as a pub landlord.

He announced the opening of his bar in Manchester on Instagram last year, sharing that he was taking over the space at #lloyds in Chorlton with photographer @jbfotografick.

‘Opening this Thursday with a big refurb scheduled for September.

We’re excited to be building a fantastic new bar with a great atmosphere for live music and events! Stay tuned for more information.

Rupert is already experienced in this area having taken on and renovated The Parlour in Manchester.

He previously shared with the Manchester Evening News that right from the start, they’ve all been passionate about finding tired, struggling pubs with great possibilities and revitalizing them. They aim to make these pubs community hubs—places people genuinely enjoy spending time in.

‘It’s always felt like a worthwhile endeavour.’

Rupert enjoyed filming Coronation Street in Manchester so much that he decided to buy a house there.

He moved into a flat in the city’s Northern Quarter, a lively area famous for its street art, restaurants, bars, and independent music stores.

Rupert is married to Jenny, who used to be his co-star on the show Corrie. She played Violet Wilson, the character who was his love interest on screen.

Screen star Rupert’s soap character Jamie was the son of Bradley Walsh’s character Danny Baldwin.

He gained notoriety for being a womanizer and for a scandalous plotline where his character had an affair with his stepmother, Frankie, portrayed by Deborah Stephenson.

Last month, he shared a photo of his character on social media, writing: ‘This young character has returned to the show – another first appearance in #classiccorrie!’

‘I think he might get up to some mischief!! #jamiebaldwin.’

In 2008, Rupert played Kieran Wallace, a minor criminal, in a four-part special of the TV show The Bill called ‘Gun Runner’.

Rupert has also appeared in Hollyoaks and Midsommer Murders.
