Jennie McAlpine, known for her role on Coronation Street, accumulated nearly half a million pounds in debt after her restaurant closed down.
In July, the actress publicly declared on her social media platforms that she was closing her Manchester restaurant named Annie’s.
The gastropub and bar, jointly owned by Jennie (known for playing Fiz Brown on Coronation Street since 2001) and her partner Chris Farr, is situated in the heart of the city on Old Bank Street.
Now, the conclusive business report is out, disclosing a grand total of £498,764.51 in outstanding debts.
The records reveal that the outstanding amounts include:
– £28,000 for employee settlements, covering claims, vacation pay, and severance packages
– £11,125 owed to the property owner
– £6,911.83 due to HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs)
She also owed £31,167 in bank loans and £1,272 to Manchester council.

The Daily Mail have contacted Jennie’s representatives for comment.
Annie’s initially debuted back in 2012, offering a diverse menu that included items such as steaks, burgers, pies, salads, and various fish options.
In a possible homage to the popular ITV soap, Annie’s establishment also offered a traditional hot pot with tender lamb and crisp potatoes.
In 2022, it was revealed that the business was facing significant financial difficulties, with outstanding debts amounting to over half a million pounds (£537,000).
Last year, the records from July indicated that Fifth Floor Limited, the company responsible for managing the restaurant, had an outstanding debt of approximately £318,000.
With great sadness, we have been forced to shut down Annie’s for this week.
‘We want to thank the amazing people, staff and customers who’ve been part of our Annies journey.
‘Our whole team will miss all of our wonderful customers, who we have come to call friends.’

The post was met with an outpouring of love for the soap star and restaurant staff.
Last year, our restaurant was recognized as one of the top-tier establishments nationwide during a highly respected awards event.
In September, TripAdvisor announced their Travellers’ Choice Awards for the Best Restaurants, highlighting the most highly-rated dining establishments by reviewers for the year 2024. Remarkably, Annie’s restaurant in Manchester made it to the top ten selections.
The tea room, now known as this dining spot, had earlier been honored with the People’s Choice Award for Best Tea Room at the Manchester Tourism Awards, recognition earned due to its exceptional selection of Afternoon Teas.
I’m really sorry to learn that. During my visits to Manchester, I always made it a point to stop by for tea on the last day. That’s where my profile picture was captured.
An additional message was conveyed: ‘I’m truly sorry to learn about this, Chris and Jennie. It has been a joy having you as neighbors for such a long time. Undoubtedly, your presence will be greatly missed.’
One individual expressed: “We adored Annie’s. It was our top spot in Manchester. The cuisine was fantastic, and the staff were consistently kind and welcoming.
‘We’ll miss it so much. Good luck in the future everyone.’
