As a devoted Coronation Street fan who has witnessed the lives of the Weatherfield residents unfold for decades, I find it truly heartbreaking to hear about the passing of Cheryl Murray, who brought Suzie Birchall to life on our screens. The bond between Suzie and Gail Platt was one of the longest-standing friendships in the soap’s history, and their antics were a staple of my weekly viewing pleasure.
Actress Cheryl Murray, known for her role as Suzie Birchall, Gail Platt’s friend on the popular TV series Coronation Street, has passed away at the age of 71.
Back in 1977, I made my grand entrance onto the iconic Coronation Street set, and oh boy, did things get interesting! My on-screen friendship with the unforgettable Gail, brilliantly portrayed by Helen Worth, became the heart and soul of most of my storylines. Together, we caused quite a stir, leaving viewers eager for more of our antics.
1979 saw her departure from the storyline, but she made a short-lived comeback in Weatherfield in 1983. After that, she bid farewell to the cobblestones forever.
