Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard, 68, gives a new health update from hospital ahead of her operation following her breast cancer diagnosis

Beverley Callard shared a health update from the hospital on Wednesday, before her scheduled breast cancer surgery. She posted a video to Instagram with the news.

Sixty-eight-year-old veteran actress, known for her long-running role on Coronation Street, recently shared that she is undergoing cancer treatment. She revealed the news during a television interview in Ireland while discussing her new part on the soap opera Fair City.

Beverley, famous for playing Liz McDonald, shared that her cancer was detected early. However, she’ll need to travel back to the UK for treatment, including radiotherapy and surgery.

She recently shared an update with her fans from the hospital, saying things are going well and she’s feeling optimistic.

From her hospital bed, she expressed her gratitude for all the well wishes, calling everyone ‘amazing.’ She explained she was about to undergo tests on her lymph nodes and glands, but felt good and remained optimistic.

Oh my gosh, you guys, she posted! It showed Beverley back home, and her sweet little dog was right there with her! She said everything seemed to go well after the hospital, and I literally cried tears of relief! I’ve been so worried, and just seeing her safe at home… it’s everything!

I had some tests done on my lymph nodes, and I’m expecting the results by next Wednesday. I have another appointment scheduled then, and my surgery is two days after that, on the 20th.

I’m feeling good, and it was great to see so many other women feeling the same way – positive and optimistic. We’re all making progress and supporting each other.

Beverley gestured to her dog, Arthur, who was resting his head on her lap, and added, ‘I think he understands what’s happening, look at him. People say animals can sense these things, and so far, everything is going well.’

Beverley shared on The Late Late Show with Patrick Kielty that she found out her diagnosis only 20 minutes before starting to film her new project.

She shared that she’d recently had some medical tests before leaving the UK. Just fifteen or twenty minutes before filming her first scene, while getting ready in her dressing room at Fair City, she felt quite anxious and worried about whether she seemed okay to everyone.

My consultant called and urged me to return to the UK. I explained that I couldn’t, as I had just started a new job and was already away for a month.

Beverley said she’s doing okay, though she felt a little headachy for the first few days. She emphasized it’s still very early on, and she’s one of many women going through the same thing.

The soap opera actress will be joining the RTÉ show ‘Fair City’ as Lily, the mother of a current character, Gwen (played by Emily Lamey), who was previously believed to be lost.

Earlier photos released for publicity show Beverley fully embodying her role, including a scene where she wears a black leather jacket.

In another photo, the actress is wearing a cream-colored, ruffled jacket and jeans as she stands beside a sign that says ‘Welcome to Carrigstown’.

Beverley recently responded to rumors that she was using weight-loss injections after people noticed her weight loss.

Okay, so she finally addressed the weight loss, and honestly? It was everything. She basically said she’s been absolutely killing it with fitness her entire life – like, seriously dedicated! She even said she’s been ‘working her ae off,’ which… iconic, honestly. It’s just so good to hear her talk about how much effort she puts in. I always knew she was a fitness queen!

Beverley clarified that her impressive body isn’t the result of weight loss injections, but simply from dedication and effort.

She added that she wouldn’t criticize anyone for getting vaccinated and encouraged people to make the best decision for their own needs.
