Keanu Reeves’s often-overlooked comic book movie, Constantine, is now available on HBO Max. Released in 2005, the film is inspired by the DC Comics series Hellblazer and follows John Constantine, an exorcist with the power to journey between Earth and Hell. He can see and interact with angels and demons in their real forms.
The movie Constantine, directed by Frank Lawrence and written by Kevin Brodbin and Frank Cappello, was a critical and commercial success, earning over $230 million worldwide. Its popularity has continued to grow over the last twenty years, and recently both director Frank Lawrence and star Keanu Reeves have hinted that Constantine 2 is likely to happen.

Just in time for fans, the movie Constantine is coming to HBO Max on January 1st. This is great news, as it hasn’t been available for streaming in the U.S. until now.
News that Constantine is heading to HBO Max comes after DC Films co-CEO James Gunn talked about the possibility of a sequel to the 2005 film. Gunn has discussed Constantine 2, including speaking with director Matt Reeves, and he’s impressed with the team involved. However, he hasn’t seen a script yet, despite the project being in development for several years.
Keanu Reeves, who starred in John Wick, has indicated the next Constantine film will continue the story in the same universe, with John Constantine facing even bigger obstacles. Matt Ryan, who also played Constantine, agrees, stating that after years of development, a sequel is now more likely than ever to happen following the events of the original ending.
As a big movie fan, I’m really excited to hear Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Lawrence both seem open to doing another Constantine movie! It’s a perfect time to revisit the original – or discover it for the first time – and enjoy the fantastic cast, including Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Djimon Hounsou, Gavin Rossdale, and Peter Stormare. They all brought something special to the film!
This could give audiences a fresh look at why the supernatural series has become so popular after a somewhat divided reaction when it first came out. Plus, if a sequel is confirmed with casting and plot details, having Constantine on a major streaming service would be a great advantage.
