Conor McGregor to BKFC, Cormier taking Jon Jones’ side & Dan Hardy warns Jake Paul about ‘recipe for disaster’
I’ve been a dedicated gamer and combat sports enthusiast for over a decade now. Every day, I eagerly consume news from around the world of combat sports, breaking down the latest headlines and sharing my take on them in this daily column. So, let me share with you my thoughts on some recent developments that have caught my attention.
In the gaming world of combat sports, I’ll be your guide every day as I share and analyze the latest news. Drop by each morning to uncover the biggest or most intriguing headlines and hear my perspective on these developments.
Conor McGregor says he’ll try BKFC after UFC career is over
Conor McGregor, a previous UFC champion, has declared his plans to join BKFC after fulfilling his obligations with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. At a recent BKFC press conference in Spain, he stated, “I have some professional matters to attend to with the UFC, as I still have two fights left on my contract. However, I’m not just here as an owner; I intend to participate as well and claim more titles.”
Based on my own experiences and observations, McGregor’s latest announcement about his comeback in BKFC seems too good to be true. I’ve seen him make bold claims before, only for them to fizzle out without any tangible results. This situation strikes me as another instance of all talk and no action.
Daniel Cormier is backing Jon Jones over recent misdemeanor charges
Jon Jones faces two misdemeanor charges following an incident with drug testing officials at his home for the UFC. His previous adversary, Daniel Cormier, spoke out in support of Jones, stating, “If the testers show up and he’s slightly intoxicated or disheveled, perhaps the encounters aren’t as enjoyable or straightforward as they once were. I’ve always considered it a mere annoyance. I don’t anticipate significant consequences arising from this.”
Cormier and Jones hold a deep-seated hatred for one another. Their long-standing animosity was evident in their recent documentary appearance, making it surprising that Cormier would extend a helping hand to Jones. I share Cormier’s skepticism regarding the allegations against Jones, but not because I believe him to be innocent. Instead, I think these charges will amount to nothing due to Jones’ history of escaping consequences for his actions.
Dan Hardy warns Jake Paul about a potential ‘recipe for disaster’ in his fight with Mike Perry
Mike Perry and Jake Paul are set to face off on July 20th. However, Dan Hardy isn’t convinced that it will be an effortless victory for Paul as many anticipate. In an interview with MMA Fighting, Hardy expressed his concerns, stating, “This could be a disaster for Jake Paul. I’m genuinely surprised he’s willing to let Mike Perry hit him, as Perry is eager for this chance.”
I share your sentiment. I’m taken aback by how confident people are that Paul will emerge the winner. While it’s true that Paul could secure a decisive victory, Perry shouldn’t be underestimated. What sets Perry apart is his fearlessness – he has nothing to lose and can take bold moves that Paul might shy away from. If Paul loses this fight, it would mean relinquishing the title he won against Tyson, so I assume he’ll play it safe.
