According to Robert Harris’s novel, the story revolves around Ralph Fiennes character, Cardinal Thomas Lawrence, who finds himself responsible for choosing a successor after an unforeseen demise of the former Pope.
Yet, he eventually discovers a series of hidden truths about each major contender that has the potential to significantly undermine the Roman Catholic Church’s solid structure.
