Joanna Scanlan, known from “Slow Horses,” and Robert Lindsay, from “Sherwood,” star in “Missed Call,” a new four-part thriller on Channel 5. The series centers around a mother’s greatest fear and begins tonight, Monday, April 13th, at 9pm. New episodes will air nightly this week, concluding with the finale on Thursday.
I just finished watching Missed Call, and it’s really gripping! It centers around Scanlan playing Sarah, a mom who’s understandably worried because her teenage daughter, Katie, is away on a student exchange program in a beautiful little village in France.
Sarah’s life is thrown into chaos when she gets a missed call from Katie late at night, forcing her to quickly travel to France.

So, when Sarah finally gets to France, it’s really unsettling – the family she’s supposed to stay with and even the local police don’t seem to care much about Katie being missing. It’s like they’re not taking it seriously, and it’s super frustrating to watch!
Because Sarah won’t settle for inaction, her desperate search for her daughter quickly becomes a thrilling and perilous struggle against the clock.

Scanlan described the series as a gripping story centered around a mother’s greatest fear, unfolding in a strikingly beautiful yet strangely eerie setting.
I’m so thrilled to be playing Sarah – she’s such a fascinating, strong, and determined character! I can’t wait for everyone to see this thriller; it’s really gripping and full of emotion. Plus, it’s been fantastic working with Channel 5 on a drama that’s so daring and captivating.
Paul Testar, the commissioning editor for 5, once called Missed Call a thrilling and moving story with a great cast from around the world, centered on a mother’s fierce determination and the conflicts that arise from different cultures.
