Community movie gets a disappointing update
As a dedicated Community fan with countless hours invested in watching the show multiple times over, I can’t help but feel a rollercoaster of emotions upon hearing Yvette Nicole Brown’s latest update about the long-awaited movie. On one hand, it’s heartening to know that the cast has read a full script and secured financing for the filming in LA. However, on the other hand, the scheduling challenges faced by the busy stars of this ensemble cast have become as complex as one of Professor Ian Duncan’s mathematical equations.
Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, best known from the show “Community,” recently posted an update about the eagerly anticipated film, offering both encouraging and slightly disappointing tidbits.
As a devoted admirer, I shared in the disappointment when the actress who brought Shirley Bennett to life on my favorite TV series found herself eliminated from The Masked Singer US. Interestingly, this news came after chats with TheWrap, where her Community co-star Ken Jeong, who is also part of the panel, was involved.
Brown said that despite a few delays, the cast is still committed to making the movie happen.
She affirmed that it is being revised, yet everyone has read the complete draft, indicating that a script indeed exists.
It seems that there’s a significant production credit available for films in Los Angeles, which provides financing. Given this opportunity, it’s clear that we will certainly be producing our project in Los Angeles.
I found myself grasping the fact that the current task is about fitting together the unique ‘jigsaw puzzles’ representing each person’s schedule. (Brown’s explanation)
Originally, we had planned to proceed with our task, but the strike occurred instead. Now, it seems like we’re constantly wondering when will so-and-so finish their performance, whether it be a show, a movie, or a tour? She expressed this thought.
However, she reassured fans that “it’s going to happen” and “we’re all on board to do it”.
The actress noted that the script she’s reviewed thus far is excellent, and the upcoming revisions are expected to greatly enhance her role.
Initially, they hadn’t locked in my appearance for the Community movie back when it was initially unveiled. This, however, gives the brilliant minds of Dan Harmon and Andrew Guess some creative leeway to potentially tweak the narrative surrounding Shirley’s character.
“It’s [a] Community script,” she said. “It’s really funny, it’s very irreverent, it’s silly.
There will likely be a great deal of alteration… [Dan and Andrew] are constantly brainstorming, evolving, and adding new elements.
Initially, I hadn’t been confirmed for the movie, but now that I am, certain adjustments will need to be made. This also means they can make changes for Shirley’s character. All in all, it promises to be an enjoyable experience.
Community can be streamed on ITVX in the UK, and on Peacock in the US.
