Surprise finding: After its debut last week, Season 2 of “With Love, Meghan,” Meghan Markle‘s lifestyle series, failed to break into Netflix’s Top 10 list.
Acknowledging my contribution to the issue, Meghan, dear, your Season 1 was so frustrating that it felt like an outrage – dried flowers as a garnish? Not everyone appreciates that! And criticizing moms for providing sweet treats at birthday parties while giving sharp gardening tools to five-year-olds? I had to skip the first two episodes of Season 2 due to this.
Engaging in flower arrangements and extravagant s’mores preparation with celebrated chefs David Chang and Christina Tosi isn’t really my cup of tea. Additionally, having Chrissy Teigen measure precise homemade Cheez-Its ingredients using a high-tech kitchen scale and pick out her children’s birth flowers to craft DIY dried-flower jewelry seems a bit excessive for my taste (and I must clarify that I don’t know my children’s birth flowers).

In a recent chat, Meghan Markle, who’s about to debut her new Netflix series and run her As Ever brand, shared that she’s been “grasping things as they come along” or “navigating as I go.
In this nation, the vast gap between rich and poor is striking, even beyond Markle demonstrating expensive Eileen Fisher baby-blue sweaters while promoting an extravagant homemaking brand, which appears unattainable for most mothers, whether they work outside the home or not.
Even with enough time and multiple rolling pins, does she really expect to have that much counter space available? Or perhaps a whole workshop like a craft barn? Given the housing shortage in California, it seems unlikely.
It’s widely speculated that the show “With Love, Meghan” may not have a third season, but a Christmas special is planned. As with anything related to Markle, there has been an abundance of negativity, especially from the British media. I don’t enjoy criticizing “With Love, Meghan”, as Markle is a hometown girl who undeniably faced an unfair situation in her early married life. In truth, I hope she finds success. However, it might serve her well to reconsider her acting career again.
Although her Netflix agreement has been revised to a “first-look” status, given the size of the company, there must be opportunities for her to create something exceptional. Here are some potential ideas:
1. Pitch a new concept or idea that aligns with their current interests.
2. Collaborate on a project with another high-profile talent within the company.
3. Reexamine and refine an existing project to better fit the “first look” agreement.
4. Explore other avenues for distribution, such as Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, or Apple TV+.
5. Utilize her influence to create original content for other departments within Netflix, like documentaries or interactive shows.

Meghan Markle announces the title of her latest venture in the lifestyle sector, named “As Ever,” that will coincide with her upcoming Netflix program.
- Call Ryan Murphy. He knows what it’s like to have a slow start with the streamer, and I can’t imagine he would turn down the chance to have the Duchess of Sussex appear in one of his many franchises. I would definitely watch Markle face off with Niecy Nash should “Grotesquerie” get a Season 2. Horror is chic right now.
- Call Shonda Rhimes. Markle would fit right into “Bridgerton” — hell, she could double-up as a consultant.
- See which Harlan Cobens are left. There’s a new adaptation of one of his novels on Netflix pretty much every month. And they’re limited series, so Markle wouldn’t have to commit for more than a year.
- Commission a darkly satiric chronicle of a lifestyle show that continually goes off the rails — a high-profile guest turns out to be fatally allergic to lavender; the crew gets sick from tasting a frittata made with (unpasteurized) eggs straight from the henhouse; friendly banter between the host and a former game show colleague turns into a brawl as old resentments and scandals surface. (You know what? I’m copyrighting this one.)
- Follow the path of least resistance and commission a mystery series. “Murder in Montecito,” say, in which a winsome young woman recently married into a powerful family tries to break into a wealthy and prestigious community only to be ensnared in a web of deadly secrets.
- Grab Olivia Colman, make her the Texan matriarch of a political dynasty and do a thinly disguised, fictionalized version of actual events. It seems a shame Markle can’t exploit, er, leverage the kind of “I’m suddenly royalty and it’s not that great” tales that helped launch the careers of Claire Danes and Anne Hathaway and keep the Hallmark Channel in business. Just think about how mad the British press would get about that.
