Comedian Lucy Beaumont finally breaks her silence on Jon Richardson split – after her huge divorce pay out figure was revealed
As I delve into this heartwarming tale of Lucy and Jon’s journey together, I can’t help but feel that their relationship is reminiscent of a rollercoaster ride – equal parts thrilling, terrifying, and ultimately unforgettable. Their story echoes the ebb and flow of life itself, with its twists, turns, laughter, and tears.
Lucy Beaumont has finally broken her silence on her split from ex husband Jon Richardson.
In April 2015, they exchanged vows, being parents to a single child. This year, they chose to part ways, announcing their separation earlier on.
They began dating in 2013, having first crossed paths through mutual friend Roisin Conaty. Over time, they collaborated on several productions, such as Meet The Richardsons.
In an announcement made together in April, they shared that after nine years of being married, they’ve decided to part ways. They mutually agreed, with understanding, to file for a divorce and move forward independently.
Jon handed over £1.625 million to Lucy when they called time on their nine year marriage.
41-year-old comedian Lucy has broken her silence regarding their separation, sharing with Ok! Magazine that she will not discuss the matter publicly. This decision is not due to any lingering hostility, but rather because they were a well-known couple and everyone knew them as such.
In simpler terms, ‘We both understood that although it may seem unusual to others who haven’t been informed, we decided to keep our discussions about our marriage and personal matters private between us.’
In her forties, she has adopted a fresh perspective on life, expressing it as follows: “I haven’t changed much, truthfully. I just find myself getting more irritable, and I have less patience for disrespect or nonsense.
After Lucy expressed concern that she might have made a mistake by marrying Jon due to his persistent stubbornness, a previously unseen video clip surfaced.
A resurfaced video has shown Lucy sharing her concerns with her marriage on Jon’s show Ultimate Worrier – where he brings on guests to help analyse his many worries.
Inquired about any concerns Lucy might have regarding her former spouse, she responded: ‘I have quite a few. At times, I fear I may have made the wrong decision.’
Lucy elaborated that Jon tends to find it difficult to acknowledge errors or mistakes, which, according to her, can prove challenging within the context of a marriage.
She went on to express, “I find it particularly challenging within a marriage when one partner finds it difficult to acknowledge their errors and apologize for them.
On the particular episode, the former partners had Jonathan Ross present, who added his thoughts: “Such intense issues make it extremely difficult for a relationship to continue.
Jon countered with, “Give me a chance to mess up before you pass judgment.” He felt it was unfair of them to do so without seeing him make an error first.
To support her argument, Lucy said, “He genuinely believes that I’m the one with flaws and that you never err. Let me give you an instance, and I must warn you, it’s not a very enjoyable tale.
Lucy shared an account of their honeymoon adventure, detailing how they hired a vehicle and traveled across America. While Jon navigated using the map, he chose to reserve a hotel room in Santa Cruz.
She commented that Santa Cruz had the highest homicide rate among all American cities, even surpassing Los Angeles in danger levels. Upon hearing this, Jon responded by saying he had already made reservations for it.
In essence, we ventured into a falafel restaurant, choosing seats by the window overlooking the ocean. As the evening grew, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of time passing and things starting to shift. Then, you showed no interest in what was unfolding.
In another turn of events, a group arrived, and one of them suffered a stab wound to the chest. When I glanced at Jon, he showed no emotion – it seemed as if he was watching two birds squabble, while I was left stunned by the situation.
Lucy mentioned, “I expressed ‘I can’t eat this,’ so Jon went ahead and ate my falafel too. I asked him, ‘Don’t you mind?'” or simply, “Lucy stated that she had said ‘I can’t eat this’, to which Jon also consumed her falafel. She then inquired, ‘Doesn’t that bother you?’
‘And all because he didn’t want to admit that we’re in a dangerous place.’
In another old clip shared recently, Lucy jokingly said she didn’t think her marriage with Jon would last for life, two years before they announced their split.
In a previously undisclosed episode of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown from 2022, Lucy openly expressed her thoughts about their marriage, which led Jon, who is also 41 years old, to inquire if they were splitting up.
In the footage from the show, host Jimmy Carr asked Lucy: ‘What made you decided to settle?’
In response to that, the comedian said, “Aren’t we just passing through here in life? Isn’t there a song about it – something like ‘A Season, A Reason, or a Lifetime’?
In the course of one’s life, you encounter people who are familiar spirits, fresh spirits, difficult individuals. Prior to Jon, I hadn’t tasted avocados before. Our lives have been filled with joy. We’ve welcomed a beautiful child into our world together.
‘Who knows what will happen in the future.’
A stunned Jon asked: ‘Are you breaking up now?’ before putting his head in his hands.
Lucy replied: ‘We have a lovely daughter so it has been worth it.’
