Comedian Joel Kim Booster marries video game producer Michael Sudsina: ‘Never felt so certain’

Emmy-nominated comedian Joel Kim Booster is “just really happy” nowadays. Why? He’s a married man.

Booster called their December wedding “the best day of my life.” The 37-year-old actor, who also stars in the show “Loot,” shared news of the marriage with a link to a New York Times article about the event.

Kim Booster shared his first wedding photos with a caption expressing how deeply loved and certain he feels. The ceremony, held at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, was attended by many friends and fellow comedians, including his podcast co-host Mitra Jouhari, and co-stars Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers. Patti Harrison, Cat Cohen, Ron Funches, and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez were also there to celebrate with the couple.

Kim Booster is a comedy writer known for his work on shows like “Shrill,” “Search Party,” and “Big Mouth.” He gained wider recognition with the 2022 film “Fire Island,” a comedic take on Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice.” The movie centers around a group of friends—and the surprising romances that blossom—during a vacation to New York’s Fire Island, a popular destination for the LGBTQ+ community. He earned two Emmy nominations in 2023 for his work on the film.

Sudsina, age 32, produces games for Riot Games, the company behind “League of Legends.” She’s contributed to popular titles like “Valorant” and the Emmy Award-winning Netflix show, “Arcane.”

The couple got married over four years after first falling in love during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to The New York Times, they met while on vacation with friends in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in May 2021 and began dating later that year. Some scenes from their trip to Mexico were said to have inspired romantic moments in the movie “Fire Island.”
