Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You getting movie adaptation after It Ends With Us success

As a seasoned gamer with a heart for both virtual and real-life narratives, I must say, Colleen Hoover’s literary adaptations have been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! The latest on my radar is the upcoming movie adaptation of “Regretting You,” starring Mckenna Grace and Allison Williams.

A new book by Colleen Hoover is being adapted into a major film, building on the popularity of “It Ends With Us”.

As a gaming enthusiast, I stumbled upon an exciting piece of news: Deadline reports that the 2019 novel “Regretting You,” penned by an author, is being adapted into a movie! The star-studded cast includes Mckenna Grace, known for her roles in Ghostbusters and The Handmaid’s Tale, as well as Allison Williams from Girls. Can’t wait to see these talented actresses bring the story to life on the big screen!

The film will explore a strained mother-daughter relationship, with Williams playing Grace’s mum.

The summary of the book suggests that Morgan Grant is resolute in shielding her sixteen-year-old child, Clara, from repeating the errors of her past. Having gotten pregnant and wed at an early age herself, Morgan postponed her personal aspirations.

Clara prefers not to tread the same path as her mother. As their contrasting temperaments and opposing ambitions create tension, it becomes more challenging for Morgan and Clara to live together harmoniously. It’s Chris, Morgan’s spouse, Clara’s dad, and the family pillar, who seems to be the one capable of maintaining peace within the household.

“But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident.”

Director Josh Boone, from “The Fault in Our Stars”, has agreed to helm the project titled “Regretting You“, as screenwriter Susan McMartin adapts the script for it.

The upcoming movie is being announced, following the strong opening weekend performance of another film by the same author, “It Ends With Us,” which has been a hit at the box office.

Featuring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, the movie has earned a whopping $50 million in the U.S., more than twice its initial production cost of $25 million.

As a gaming enthusiast might say, while the movie has a 59% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s got a whopping 94% approval from audiences! It seems that this film is striking a chord with viewers more than it is with professional reviewers.

It Ends With Us is in cinemas now.
