Colleen Hoover thriller Verity starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson delays release date

Colleen Hoover’s upcoming thriller Verity has delayed its release date.

The film, based on Hoover’s book with the same title, was initially planned for release in theaters on May 15, 2026.

Instead, Deadline reports that the release date for Verity has been pushed back nearly five months, with the new launch set for 2nd October, 2026.

What to Read Next

The unexpected postponement might be a strategic decision by Amazon’s MGM Studios, given that past female-driven thriller releases, like “Gone Girl” and “The Girl on the Train,” have experienced massive success when they debuted during the first weekend of October.

Truthfully, Verity trails behind Lowen Ashleigh, a scribe whom Jeremy Crawford recruits to finish a series of novels that his spouse Verity had started but couldn’t complete due to a perplexing auto collision which rendered her immobile. The books were initially authored by Verity prior to the accident.

As Lowen delves into the project, they come across an undiscovered draft, suggesting ominous truths concealed in the Crawfords’ past. However, the question remains: Can the author distinguish between the truth and the fabrication?

In the upcoming production, Anne Hathaway has been cast as Verity Crawford, with Josh Harnett portraying Jeremy Crawford, the lead characters.

In the meantime, it has been announced that Dakota Johnson will play Lowen Ashleigh, while Ismael Cruz Cordóva and Brady Wagner are also expected to appear in the production.

In other news, the highly anticipated sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada,” titled Hathaway’s The Devil Wears Prada 2, has just received an exciting update. The long-awaited film is now in production and is set to hit theaters next summer.

In the upcoming sequel, we’ll see the return of main stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Additionally, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Simone Ashley have been added to the cast.

Verity will arrive in cinemas on 2 October, 2026.
