The hair of the dog is no miracle remedy. Colin Farrell knows this from experience.
While filming Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi thriller “Minority Report,” based on a story by Philip K. Dick, the Irish actor discovered that a common home remedy wasn’t as effective as people thought.
As Colin Farrell described on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on Tuesday, the experience on set that day was actually more unsettling than the dystopian world depicted in his 2002 film.

The film takes place in the flashy world of Macau’s casinos, but despite having talented people involved, like the director of ‘Conclave,’ it ultimately fails to deliver on its potential.
He explained it began the night before his birthday. He admitted to getting into trouble and not returning home until very late. He was also battling a long-term problem with substance abuse at the time.
The Academy Award winner recalled going to bed and the phone ringing immediately after he switched off the light. This caused him to be ten minutes late for his 6:00 a.m. car service.
“I went, ‘Oh, s—.’”
Farrell explained that he’d barely gotten out of his car when the assistant director, David H. Venghaus Jr., stopped him, telling him he wasn’t dressed appropriately for the set.

In response, the young actor requested six Pacifico beers and a pack of Marlboro Reds.
Colbert, Farrell explained that while his behavior wasn’t ideal – he later sought treatment in rehab two years after the incident – it did achieve the desired effect at the time.
Did it, though?
Farrell revealed that he had to film one line – a rather long one, “I’m sure you’ve all grasped the fundamental paradox of pre-crime methodology” – a total of 46 times to get it right.
Farrell admitted Tom Cruise wasn’t pleased with him. However, Cruise did receive a nomination for a Saturn Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, which was a nice consolation. Also, the film ‘Minority Report’ had a strong start, earning $35.6 million domestically during its opening weekend.

The Academy has announced that Tom Cruise will receive a special Oscar award. Debbie Allen, Dolly Parton, and Wynn Thomas will also be honored with statuettes.
Colin Farrell shared at the 2021 Dublin International Film Festival that he achieved sobriety a few years before making the movie “In Bruges” in 2008.
Farrell admitted the change was tough at first. He explained that after many years of heavy drinking, getting sober felt daunting and even frightening.
You know, talking to him, what really struck me was how much peace he found in simply being present. He admitted that usually, coming home after a long day meant reaching for a drink to unwind, but this time was different. He said it was incredibly freeing – and honestly, really amazing – to just relax and de-stress without needing that usual crutch.
