Colin Farrell Confirms His Return For The Batman 2, Teases ‘Scarier’ Sequel With ‘Bigger Stakes’

Fan favorite Colin Farrell says that The Batman: Part II will be even “scarier” than the first film directed by Matt Reeves in the Batman story.

According to DCU Prime TV, a popular fan account on Twitter, Colin Farrell, who is reprising his role, has confirmed he will be in The Batman: Part II and shared what viewers can anticipate. Farrell mentioned, “I have an even smaller role in this one,” adding, “But I’m okay with that… I’ve read the script, from beginning to end, and I can’t reveal much. However, it’s more intense, frightening, and the consequences are greater. I’m really looking forward to seeing it.”

Farrell will return as Oswald “Oz” Cobb, also known as the Penguin, a role he originally played in the 2022 film The Batman, which was written and directed by Matt Reeves with co-writer Peter Craig. The movie featured Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, or Batman, and introduced many other key characters from Gotham City, including Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle (Catwoman), and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton, also known as the Riddler. The Batman was a huge hit, and it quickly led to a spin-off series starring Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti that was equally successful.

Ever since The Batman came out, people have been really excited for a sequel, but it’s become well-known for how many delays it’s faced. Last August, there was a big update about The Batman: Part II, specifically that production is now scheduled to begin in just a few months. Filming will take place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London, UK, starting on Jan. 1, 2026, and preparations for the movie are already underway. Currently, we expect announcements about the supporting cast and background actors to be made soon after filming starts.

Where Else Can Fans Expect to See Gotham City on the Silver Screen?

Besides the Gotham City viewers will experience in The Batman: Part II, another film is also set to showcase the city: director James Watkins and writers Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini’s Clayface. The movie will feature Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, a rising actor whose life takes a dramatic turn when a mobster disfigures him. Hoping to restore his life and career, Hagen seeks help from Dr. Caitlin Bates, played by Naomi Ackie, an unconventional scientist whose work offers transformative possibilities, though potentially with negative consequences. Clayface will also include Max Minghella as a Gotham City detective in a romantic relationship with Ackie, and Eddie Marsan in a role that hasn’t been revealed yet. Furthermore, initial glimpses of the Clayface set suggest the presence of .

The Batman: Part II is currently slated to arrive in theaters in on Oct. 1, 2027.
