As I read through this article, I found myself deeply moved by Coleen Rooney’s decision to leave her children behind for the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! show. It reminds me of my own experiences as a parent, where I’ve had to make tough choices for the sake of my children’s education and wellbeing.

Two weeks back, as she sent off her four boys to their last school day, she concealed her sobs and strove to maintain an appearance of normality. Before embarking on her journey into the “I’m A Celebrity” jungle, that is.

Excitedly speaking here, I’m heading Down Under in anticipation! My idol, Coleen Rooney, is expected to cross that bridge soon, and I can hardly contain my enthusiasm! Joining her will be her adorable boys, Kit (eight) and Cass (six). But the cherry on top? Her parents Colette (61) and Anthony will also be there. This reunion is going to be unforgettable, mark my words!

23 hours later, finding themselves at Brisbane Airport, the boys were still holding onto the kangaroo stuffed toys their mom had given them before her departure to the jungle.

With vigor intact, Kit and Cass sprinted onward, outpacing their grandparents who trailed behind, pulling carts laden with suitcases in anticipation of a fortnight’s vacation on the Gold Coast. They were eagerly awaiting their sole daughter to conclude her stint on the ITV program.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I find myself indulging in luxury at the five-star Marriott Hotel, where my days are filled with leisurely trips to the pristine beach and relaxing moments by the pool. On the other hand, my friend Colleen embarks on an adventurous journey, living off a simple diet of rice and beans amidst the lush Australian jungle.

Instead of traveling to Australia’s Gold Coast with their mother, Kai (age 15) and Klay (age 12), opted to stay in the UK. This was because their mother made it clear that they would need to handle their schoolwork during the trip and also attend their football tournaments.

While Wayne Rooney, aged 39, remains at home due to his role as a manager for Plymouth Argyle, the kids made certain to bring along mementos of their father. Included among these were action figures depicting him playing soccer, neatly tucked away in their luggage.

Before boarding the flight, Coleen’s parents said they were ‘very excited’ to see their daughter.

Colette, her mom, expressed her pride by saying, “We’re incredibly proud of her. She’s doing exceptionally well, and we can’t wait to see more of her progress.

Inquired about her potential to claim the jungle crown, the cheerful Colette – initially clad in a khaki-inspired two-piece jungle attire before switching to a white and blue striped sweater upon her arrival in Australia – responded: ‘She has a possibility.’

Her father Tony added: ‘She’s doing pretty well, we are all very proud of how she’s doing.

‘She’s doing alright and is coming across really well. You never know she might win.

‘We’ve got a long flight now to see her.’

The couple and the two children arrived at the airport from her daughter’s Cheshire mansion in two people carriers.

One car carried the family while the other took some of their five large suitcases.

Kit was seen pushing his own suitcase with ‘KR’ in big red letters on it.

The family booked their flight to Dubai at 13.10, with this leg scheduled to later link up to Brisbane during the early morning hours.

As a devoted parent, I’ve opted against making a trip down under this time. My two younger children will be joining me instead. All of them had the opportunity to travel, but my older kids have chosen to remain at home, continuing their education and football commitments.

‘It appears I mentioned earlier that you should bring your work with you when you visit. Additionally, it seems there are some soccer tournaments they won’t be able to watch. As a result, they’ve decided to change their plans quickly.’

It’s understandable that I wished everyone could attend, but their reasoning is valid. They decided to stay home to avoid missing anything there, and as soon as the event ends, I’ll be heading back immediately.

In essence, I handed over the decision to them, and they made a choice I find acceptable. I believe it was the missed football opportunity that influenced their decision, as they didn’t want to skip any tournaments.

38-year-old Coleen, who has been accompanied by notable figures like boxer Barry McGuigan, Love Island star Maura Higgins, and singer Tulisa Contostavlos on I’m A Celeb, left viewers surprised during Sunday night’s broadcast when she bluntly referred to Donald Trump as a ‘rude fellow’ after he made an inappropriate comment about soccer players getting all the attractive women in his presence.
