Coleen Rooney enjoyed a relaxing spa day, marking her first public appearance since her husband, Wayne Rooney, announced he’s lost hearing in one ear.
The wife of a famous athlete, age 39, visited the Bank MediSpa clinic in Hale, Cheshire on Monday. This came shortly after her husband, a retired footballer aged 40, spoke openly about his recent health struggles.
The celebrity, known from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, was dressed casually in a beige quarter-zip sweater and black leggings.
The mother of four, who shares sons Kai (16), Klay (11), Kit (8), and Cass (6) with her husband Wayne of 17 years, was dressed comfortably in sneakers and carried a Costa Coffee cup after grabbing her daily coffee.
Coleen Rooney recently shared what she saw, following Wayne Rooney’s revelation that he’s deaf in one ear. This surprised many viewers of a ‘Behind the Scenes’ feature on Match of the Day, as Wayne explained how this affects his work as a commentator.
The football manager has always kept his hearing loss private, and it’s currently unknown when or how he lost his hearing.
He requested the BBC film crew place an earpiece in his right ear rather than his left, which is how he was able to make the announcement.
He asked if he could use his good ear, pointing to it. He explained that he used to control the communication line, but he’s deaf in his left ear, which makes things difficult.
‘So when it’s too loud I struggle to hear what Kelly Cates [MOTD presenter] or whoever is saying.’
The cause of Wayne’s hearing loss in his left ear is unknown, but he received 45 stitches to the ear in 2009 after an accident on a yacht in the French Riviera.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by how people build their careers, and it’s interesting to see how this commentator has expanded his reach. He recently joined the Match of the Day team this summer and reports suggest he’s earning around £800,000 a year for it. Plus, he’s also got a podcast deal with the BBC, which is a great way to connect with audiences on a different platform – a smart move for building his personal brand, if you ask me!
I’ve been following his career for ages, and it’s so exciting to see him move into broadcasting! It feels like a natural step after he managed Plymouth, Derby, even went over to DC United, and then had a stint at Birmingham City. Honestly, I can’t wait to hear what he has to say – he’s always been so insightful!
Since retiring from coaching, Wayne has openly shared his enthusiasm for working as a sports commentator. He even made a few appearances on Amazon Prime Video last season, providing analysis for Champions League games.
In a June interview with talkSPORT, he suggested he was leaning towards a career in media rather than immediately returning to management.
He explained that he’s currently focused on some television work and is really enjoying it. He plans to continue with that for the time being.
Wayne and Coleen recently took their yearly, luxurious vacation to Barbados with their four sons.
Coleen and Wayne were joined on their vacation by Coleen’s parents, Colette and Tony, plus some of Wayne’s former football colleagues. These included retired players Jonny and Darren Gibson, and Michael Carrick, who now manages Manchester United.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe where they vacation! They’re constantly in Barbados, and they OWN this incredible villa – it’s worth £5 million! It has FIVE bedrooms, can you imagine? And the pool… it’s an infinity pool with this amazing little bridge going over it! Seriously, it’s HUGE – it can sleep fourteen people! I’ve been stalking their Instagram and it’s just… perfection.
They bought the property in 2010 and rent out the holiday home when they are not in residence.
