Coleen Nolan Opens Up About Turning 60, Heartbreak, and Facing Life as a Single Woman

Coleen Nolan has pondered on her sixtieth birthday as an unattached lady, confessing that she feels wistful about the possibility of not finding love again, even though she still has much to offer.

59-year-old celebrity expresses her hesitations regarding her upcoming birthday on March 12th.

She shared with The Mirror: “At the age of sixty, I find myself single, and this suits me well for now. However, this week, I experienced a brief moment of melancholy, wondering if there is still a chance for me to experience love again.

‘I love being in love and being loved, and I feel I still have a lot to give in that department.’

Colleen confessed, “I have no plans to use dating apps again. If I were to encounter someone, it would be either by chance or through mutual acquaintances, although that scenario seems unlikely for me, given that most men I come across in my profession are either too young, married, or homosexual.

In November, the well-known Loose Women personality disclosed that she and her three-year partner, Michael Jones, had parted ways.

Colleen started seeing a man who worked in supermarket logistics in 2021, having initially met on the dating app Tinder. Their relationship had its ups and downs, with her ending it three separate times.

In a sad turn of events regarding her relationship, Coleen shared that she and her partner have chosen to end their romance permanently, intending to stay as friends, and disclosed the cause of their split.

She informed OK! Magazine: “We’ve opted to maintain a friendly relationship, viewing it simply as a friendship. It’s important to note that this decision has no connection to anyone else, and it’s not anybody’s fault.

‘I’ve got a lot going on – between my job and tending to the farm – and it’s left me with limited spare time. To be honest, I struggle to juggle everything effectively right now. Despite this, our friendship is strong and I hope it will continue into the future; who knows what might happen?’

She opted to maintain a friendship with Michael, even as she nurtured strong friendships with former spouses Shane Richie and Ray Fensome. This approach, according to Colleen, is something that develops with ‘maturity and life lessons’.

The singer pointed out that, at age 60, she doesn’t have the luxury of time to be patient about relationships like she might have been in her twenties. She emphasized that life moves quickly and there’s not much time left to waste.

During our split, she mentioned: “I won’t deny that it wasn’t sad, because honestly, it was. However, I sincerely hope that once the sadness fades, we can still maintain a friendship. I don’t have any regrets about it; it was wonderful. Michael entered my life at exactly the right moment, and I believe that over the past three-and-a-half years, we’ve both grown and supported each other.

In conversation about her romantic history, the TV personality shared that she often emphasized the wonderful moments and not the difficult endings, reminiscing fondly about the terrific 10 years she experienced prior to those challenging last two years in each of her marriages.

In another part of the recent interview, Coleen sadly confessed that reaching sixty feels unusual, coming so shortly after her sister Linda’s passing.

On January 15, 2025, Linda passed away at the age of 65 after bravely enduring a 20-year struggle with breast cancer and also battling double pneumonia during her final days.

Colleen attained popularity along with her siblings Linda (age 71), Maureen (also 71), Anne (74), Denise (72), and the deceased Bernie, who were all part of the successful pop band known as The Nolans.

According to a source, OK! reports that Coleen is reaching a significant birthday, yet her thoughts are undoubtedly centered on her sister.

I find myself grappling with an overwhelming sense of loss and joy all at once, as I reflect on the absence of dear Linda. The thought that she’s not here with us is truly heartrending.

Last month, Coleen wrote a heartfelt birthday message for Linda, sharing her tribute online in honor of what would have been her sister’s 66th birthday.

The post featured a video of Colleen and her sister dancing together at a celebration, their joyful laughter erupting as they displayed their dance skills.

‘I miss you so much and life won’t be the same without you in it…’

After Colleen’s heartfelt breakdown on Loose Women on Monday, it occurred immediately afterward that she received a touching surprise for her 60th birthday.

She stepped into the studio, wearing an eye mask and sporting AirPods, which meant she was oblivious to whatever was happening around her.

The beloved TV personality became emotional when she discovered her family and friends were watching – marking the unique occasion where her children Jake (age 32), Shane (age 36), and Ciara (age 24) were all present together for the first time.

Additionally, in the front row were Shane and Ciara’s significant others, Colleen’s top two friends, her siblings Brian and Tommy, as well as her cousin Sandra.

On her birthday, she received personalized greetings from notable figures like Pete Wicks and Jeff Brazier as well.
