Okay, so I’m a HUGE Coldplay fan, like, seriously devoted. And honestly, I was a little shocked during the Wembley show. Chris just *stopped* the concert, right in the middle of everything, to send good vibes to Charlie Kirk’s family. It felt… weird. A lot of us were talking about it afterward, and it rubbed some people the wrong way. We all love Chris, but it felt like a really strange moment to bring up someone completely unrelated to the show, you know?
During Coldplay’s final concert at Wembley Stadium on Friday, 48-year-old lead singer Chris Martin asked the audience to raise their hands in remembrance of the late political activist, as the band wraps up a historic world tour of 225 dates.
Kirk was shot and killed on Wednesday while giving a speech to students at Utah Valley University.
A video circulating on X shows Martin speaking to a crowd of 80,000 people. He asked them to raise their hands and send positive energy to anyone they were thinking of, saying it would likely be the last time he performed in London for a while.
The singer of “Viva La Vida” raised his hands, and much of the crowd followed suit.
There are many people who could really use a little something today. We’re sending this package from London, and you can forward it to loved ones, especially those going through a difficult time. Feel free to also share it with the family of Charlie Kirk.

As a little life philosophy of mine, I always say you should extend kindness universally. Don’t limit your generosity – send a thoughtful gesture to *anyone*, even those you have differences with. The key is to send love, regardless. It’s amazing how far a little kindness can go, even with people you disagree with.
Feel free to share it with people in areas experiencing conflict, like the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Sudan, and Somalia-anywhere a little kindness from London might be appreciated.
Martin counted down from five, and as the crowd raised their hands, the band started playing another song.
