Coldplay fans outraged as Ticketmaster gaffe leaves them in desperate last minute struggle to get tickets – as site is slammed again

Coldplay fans outraged as Ticketmaster gaffe leaves them in desperate last minute struggle to get tickets - as site is slammed again

As a seasoned attorney with decades of experience in entertainment law, I must say that this legal battle between Coldplay and their former manager Dave Holmes seems like a classic case study. From my perspective, it appears that both parties have valid claims and counterclaims, which is not uncommon in these types of disputes.

Fans of Coldplay found themselves furious and criticizing Ticketmaster again, as a technical issue forced them into a frantic race at the last moment to secure tickets for the band’s upcoming tour.

The popular British band has unveiled a schedule for six concerts across the UK, which will happen during the upcoming summer as part of their groundbreaking Music Of The Spheres World Tour.

Despite tickets going on sale as early as 9 am on Friday, fans found themselves in a frenzy at the last moment when Ticketmaster disclosed that they needed to verify their accounts. However, the inconvenience increased when no verification code was sent out.

Recently, Ticketmaster has encountered a new controversy due to their ‘flexible pricing model’ being criticized. This pricing system has been accused of dramatically increasing the cost of Oasis tour tickets up to an astonishing £355.

For the upcoming events at London’s Wembley Stadium and Hull’s Craven Park Stadium, a restricted quantity of £20 admission tickets will be offered.

For each Coldplay concert, a restricted quantity of Infinity Tickets will be distributed. This is intended to offer fans an affordable opportunity to join the Music Of The Spheres World Tour.

Each ticket is priced at around £20, €20, or $20 apiece, and they come as sets of two. The Infinity Tickets can be seated anywhere within the venue, ranging from the furthest seats to those on the floor, all the way up to the prime spots.

Half of the tickets for the Hull performances, which mark the band’s inaugural shows in this city, are reserved for local residents (those with postcodes HU, YO, DN, or LN). You can secure these tickets through Ticketmaster on September 26 starting at 6pm.

In addition, these cities are the sole ones in the UK and Europe where the band will take the stage for their performances next year. A tenth of the earnings from these shows will be given to Music Venue Trust, an organization that aids grassroots music venues nationwide.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can’t help but applaud Coldplay for their thoughtful approach to ticketing and venue selection. By offering affordable tickets, they’ve shown a genuine care for their fans, prioritizing local supporters over corporate scalpers, and supporting grassroots venues – a move that has sparked a wave of appreciation on social media.

The posts mention that Coldplay is offering a series of £20 tickets for their upcoming UK concerts, which demonstrates that musicians can opt to make their performances more affordable.

I must admit, that’s simply terrific! Ten percent of the profits will significantly impact grassroots organizations. Kudos to Coldplay and everyone involved for their bravery.

This incredible news marks the beginning of something significant, largely due to the relentless efforts and loud advocacy by @markdavyd and @musicvenue trust. Bravo on a job well done!

‘As usual, this band lead the way! See you at Wembley (hopefully!)’

I usually don’t bring up such things, but hats off to the incredible Coldplay lads! Kudos to them for contributing a substantial portion of their ticket revenue to the @musicvenue trust. This move will have a tremendous impact on our music community and deserves recognition.

‘Coldplay giving priority to local fans I’ve never been so happy;’

It’s said that Coldplay are allegedly compensating their ex-manager, Dave Holmes, with a substantial amount (seven figures) following his lawsuit against the band for a claimed ten million pounds.

In the year 2022, the group decided to go their separate ways from Dave, marking the start of a prolonged and intense legal dispute.

2023 saw Dave assert that he’s entitled to a sum of £10 million as unpaid commission for the forthcoming tenth and eleventh albums by Coldplay, neither of which have hit the shelves yet.

Contrarily, the band, headed by lead singer Chris Martin, filed a lawsuit seeking £14 million, arguing that Holmes had exceeded the budget for their Music of the Spheres tour by an excess of £17.5 million.

According to documents obtained by The Sun from the High Court in London, it was revealed that Coldplay reached a confidential, multi-million dollar agreement to keep certain personal details out of court proceedings.

According to the source, Chris and his band members are pleased that they’ve set boundaries, but this decision has come with a significant financial cost. Essentially, they’ve had to pay millions as part of the settlement. Now, their main goal is to put this matter behind them.

After Dave left, Phil Harvey, a close friend of Chris and one of the band’s key supporters who funded their initial recordings and was regarded as an unofficial fifth member, took charge of managing the group instead.

TopMob has contacted representatives for Coldplay for comment.

Previously, Coldplay’s dispute with their ex-manager experienced a significant shift. Dave alleged that the band fabricated stories about mishaps and questionable ethical conduct.

Holmes conveyed to TopMob that he thought the British team headed by Chris Martin had realized they were in a difficult situation, following their counterclaim of 14 million pounds.

In response to the statement, a representative for Holmes informed TopMob in October: “Coldplay is aware they face difficulties with their defense.

Instead of falsely accusing Dave Holmes of unsubstantiated ethical issues and fabricated misbehavior, let’s focus on the genuine matter: Coldplay entered into a contract with Dave, yet they have refused to fulfill their obligations. They must settle the debt owed to Dave as per the agreement.

Coldplay believed that its tour suffered spiralling costs due to Holmes.
