Coin Singer Exposes Bandmates, Calls It Quits After 13 Years

The Nashville based rock trio Coin has called it quits after 13 years as a band.

On the band’s Instagram page, lead singer Chase Lawrence posted an enigmatic statement expressing that he feels unable to continue due to certain disclosures about his fellow band members.

Lawrence started by expressing that he has recently learned some truths about his bandmates, and he felt it was important to address everyone directly. He emphasized that he values accountability and doing the right thing.

A few weeks ago, Lawrence disclosed that the pop-rock band is embarking on a tour with drummer Ryan Winnen absent, as he chose to address certain personal issues.

Now Lawrence has also parted ways with guitarist Joe Memmel.

Approximately three months back, I chose to proceed without my drummer, and just yesterday, I ended things with my guitarist, Lawrence explained further.

Their actions go against what I believe is right, and it deeply saddens me to see the harm they’ve caused others.

Coin is best known for their catchy 2016 pop anthem Talk Too Much.

It’s clear that Lawrence didn’t explain the particular behaviors he’s referring to, nor did he provide details about how these actions clashed with his personal values.

It’s been my lifelong goal to foster an environment filled with love and happiness using music. Learning that this sanctuary I’ve built has been tarnished by the actions of others is incredibly painful,” he expressed.

‘Discovering that this space has been compromised by the actions of others is truly heartbreaking.’

He stated: ‘Regrettably, these advancements have caused me to make the choice that COIN will no longer operate as a band.’

The pop trio formed in 2012 and was made up of Nashville-based musicians Chase, Ryan, and Joe.

They released four albums together performed at festivals like Bonnaroo over the years.

As a humble servant of the vibrant community that’s always been by my side, I want to express my sincere apologies for any letdown you might feel. Your unwavering support has not only fueled my passion but has truly enriched my journey. It is with this deep sense of gratitude and commitment that I feel compelled to be transparent and decisive in navigating this challenging situation together.

The band has announced that their upcoming concert dates have been called off, and Chase assured fans that they will receive a refund for their ticket purchases.

Despite the end of Coin, he offered some hope to fans, saying that his musical journey is not over.

‘There’s a lot to figure out about the future, but I know I’m not done making music yet.’

Fans expressed their dismay and heartbreak in the comments section and in a Reddit thread.

Oh, what a frustrating situation! Still, it’s refreshing to witness such ethical standards today. Wishing Chase all the best for his future endeavors!

A different Reddit user shared their discovery about potential causes behind the breakup of the band, after thoroughly examining the band’s primary discussion forum.

I previously glanced at a post on the subreddit Coin, where it was reported that their drummer was dismissed for alleged abusive behavior towards his ex-partner, who recently spoke up. Yesterday, controversial screenshots emerged alleging that their guitarist sent explicit images to an underage girl.

30 days prior to a concert featuring my preferred band of a decade, I held VIP tickets for my 27th birthday event… I am deeply disappointed and enraged by this situation.

I’ve only been an occasional listener and caught their performances a few times in Nashville. It’s unfortunate to learn about the unprofessional members in their band. Understandably, it seems like the right move due to those incidents. It’s just too bad that people can’t behave normally.

‘I’m truly disappointed that I didn’t get to witness COIN live, but your music has significantly impacted me throughout the years. Rest assured, I’ll keep an eye out for what’s coming next and send my best wishes to you.’

An additional comment was made: ‘Breaking up the coin wasn’t on our 2025 bingo list. Your music has been fantastic and provided wonderful energy.’

I’m genuinely devastated,” was another expression used. “For the past seven years, Coin has been my beloved band, but I respect the choice you made to uphold your principles. I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing what you’ll accomplish next!
