Cody Simpson DELETES heartbreaking song hinting he is still in love with engaged ex Miley Cyrus following backlash

Cody Simpson has removed a recently posted song from his social media accounts after fans suggested it was about his former girlfriend, Miley Cyrus, especially since she just got engaged.

The 28-year-old Australian musician posted a video on TikTok this week. In it, he played an acoustic guitar and sang original lyrics that seemed to be about his previous relationship with the singer of ‘Flowers’.

Okay, so they posted this little clip, and I swear, the internet exploded. It was quickly taken down, but not before everyone – and I mean everyone – decided it was basically him admitting he’s still totally in love with Miley! It was like a secret message hidden in the song, and honestly, I totally get it. It felt so real, and now it’s gone! I’m obsessed, and I need answers!

Miley and her ex dated for about ten months in 2019 and 2020, not long after her split from Liam Hemsworth.

The pair had been close friends for years before taking their relationship to the next level.

Miley, now 32, is engaged to musician Maxx Morando after dating for three years. She has moved on from her previous relationships and is planning a future with him.

Okay, so I saw this clip before it disappeared, and honestly, it totally blew my mind! This singer, she’s from Sydney, and she was performing this really sad, beautiful song. It instantly reminded me of Miley – like, the vibes were so ‘Wildcard’ and ‘Angels Like You’! Everyone immediately knew she was inspired by Miley, it was so obvious and amazing! I’ve been replaying it in my head ever since.

One fan reacted to the news, saying the timing of everything was awful, especially after the recent engagement announcement. Another commenter sympathized, noting that old feelings don’t just vanish with time, making the situation particularly difficult.

Some people expressed conflicted feelings, with one commenter jokingly lamenting, ‘Why are men like this?!’ while still admitting the song was enjoyable.

Honestly, everyone was talking about it, and even though some people were critical, so many others got it. They loved how real Cody was being and were begging him to actually put the song out for everyone to hear! I was one of them, of course – I NEED this song in my life!

Cody and Miley used to be very close, openly displaying their affection for each other with lots of public displays of affection, cute photos online, and even getting identical tattoos when they were dating.

In August 2020, they publicly announced they were separating, stating it was a mutual decision so they could each focus on their own personal development and future.

In a previous interview with Stellar magazine, Simpson revealed he ended his relationship with Miley Cyrus because he needed to prioritize his swimming training.

He ended his relationship with model Marloes Stevens for similar reasons, and says both breakups were the inspiration behind his new song, “Let Go.”

I wrote this fairly recently, and with some relationship changes over the last couple of years, it really reflects those experiences.

Becoming a dedicated swimmer meant I had to make tough choices and give up certain things, and not everyone understands that. That was a major factor in why my last two relationships didn’t work out.

You know, when I first started seeing Miley, I’d just begun seriously training. It really made me think about what I wanted, and I realized if I was going to pursue this properly, I’d have to move back to Australia. It was a turning point for me, honestly.

‘I saw all these realisations that maybe it’s time to turn the page in a chapter.’

Miley explained in an Instagram Live video that they were separating to focus on personal growth, but they still cared about each other and wanted to remain friends.

Daily Mail has reached out to Cody for comment.
