'Cocaine Cassie' Sainsbury reveals 'secret' she has kept for four years following her drug smuggler arrest

As an ardent follower of Cassie Sainsbury’s extraordinary journey, I find myself awestruck by her courage and resilience. The news of her upcoming memoir is like a beacon of light breaking through the shadows of her harrowing experiences. Having survived the notorious El Buen Pastor prison and endured unspeakable horrors, she’s now ready to share her story in her own words.

As a connoisseur of well-rounded living, I’ve got an intriguing tale to share – one that I’ve held close for the last four years following my detainment at a Colombian airport. You might recognize me as ‘Cocaine Cassie’ Sainsbury, but let me assure you, there’s much more to my story than that label suggests.

In 2017, a 22-year-old individual was detained at El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, with approximately 5.8 kilograms of cocaine hidden within 18 sets of packaged headphones.

Currently aged 29 and residing in Adelaide, the star of SAS Australia took to her Instagram audience on Thursday to share the news that she will soon publish a book detailing her time spent in prison.

Cassie posted a video featuring her along with the tune “Walking on a Dream” by Empire of the Sun, while she unveiled her surprising announcement.

In the comfort of her own home, she rocked back and forth in her seat, maintaining a beaming silence, radiating excitement on her face.

After that, she unexpectedly halted and scowled, feigning attention towards a supposed detail within her video backdrop. In doing so, she subtly unveiled to her followers the cover art of her forthcoming book.

She titled the brief video, ‘I’ve hidden something from each of you… and now I’m prepared to reveal it.’

‘It’s taken me 4 years to write this and to be okay with sharing my experiences in a very dark world.

This trip served as a means for me to cope with my past traumas and find inner tranquility concerning some extraordinarily challenging events.

Cassie brought up her stint on the reality TV series SAS Australia, where she earned a substantial six-figure income, during the previous year.

Exactly a year ago, I took part in the SAS Australia challenge. This experience gave me an opportunity to give you a small peek into my personality and the challenges I faced,” she explained.

Today, I share with you an extraordinary experience – stepping into my world as a prison inmate within one of the most infamous penitentiaries known. This book offers that unique opportunity.

In my latest update, I – your trusted lifestyle advisor – am thrilled to share that under my pen name, ‘Cocaine Cassie’, I’ll be unveiling a heartfelt memoir this coming October 15th.

A listing on book retailer QBD’s website has revealed insight into the book’s contents.

‘At the heart of global media scrutiny, a woman eventually known as “Cocaine Cassie” endured assaults, both physical and emotional, with her life’s events unfolding under public gaze. Unfortunately, her story was often misrepresented and sensationalized over many years.’

Currently, Cocaine Cassie shares her personal story, offering an unvarnished, heart-wrenching perspective on her past experiences. Scarred and beaten, she recounts her compelling tale of being coerced into the role of a drug courier.

This tale encapsulates struggles and the fading light of optimism about tomorrow, yet it’s more than that. It’s a narrative of her journey towards forgiveness and salvation – a journey that rebuilds a life beyond the shadows of her past, ensuring it doesn’t dictate her future.

‘I am not “Cocaine Cassie”. I am Cassie Sainsbury.’

Media dubbed her ‘Cocaine Cassie’ during her incarceration, which spanned close to three years out of a six-year term, at the infamous Colombian El Buen Pastor penitentiary.

During a compassionate order issued due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she was granted freedom from prison and placed under house arrest, along with about 4,000 other inmates.

Cassie returned to Adelaide in August 2022.

Last year, during a chat on the Fitzy & Wippa show featuring Kate Ritchie, Cassie disclosed that she faced regular attacks while incarcerated.

She shared, “I endured numerous brutal attacks. I was frequently subjected to physical violence. I was wounded by stabbings. I bear two wounds on my arms from the places where I was stabbed. I experienced many hardships that I hope no one else has to face.

Given that I am a foreigner in a Spanish jail, there seems to be an excessive focus on me, as if I were a wealthy Caucasian woman. It appears they intend to harass or intimidate me until they have achieved their goal.

Currently residing in Australia, Cassie has been consistent with her online activity and continues to market fitness regimens for sale.

In 2023, she appeared on reality TV show SAS Australia, but quit on the second episode.
